After over 30 breeds, I'm now devoted to Black Penedesencas. I still have a lone Ameraucana who hatched in 2009 who's a great hen laying daily. She survived 2 dog attacks and a raccoon attack where she got chewed up pretty badly. She usually raises a brood of chicks every year.
I'm hatching some of her eggs to get some olive eggers. I'm only keeping a couple and selling the rest.
I only have the time, space and facilities to do justice to one breed.
This is the first year I haven't had a broody. I think it is the plastic nest pads I'm currently using.
