They're not like cornishX. They free range very good. They are just too big to breed themselves. When we lived up by the inlaws they bought ten broad breasted whites when we ordered our RIRs. I forget how many weeks they were, got them in the spring butchered in the fall. Toms dressed 45lbs! All of them still getting around just fine, not laying in filth like cornishX. They didn't butcher one of the hens. After a couple weeks of ME feeding her my laying mash I asked when they were going to off her, mom inlaw was sick of plucking said I could have it. I tried a few times, even had tree branch loppers wrapped around her neck once.
Wife never fed them until I went on a week hunting trip and had to take care of the reds and her. When I got back and went to the barn to feed everybody wife went with me. She says "I was wondering what the heck was wrong with that darn turkey, laid down everytime I went in the barn". I says well your supposed to pet and talk to her and she talks back Lol!
She lived over two yrs, got around slow but fine even outside. I got tons of big eggs from her. Made many gallons of giant pickled eggs Lol.

The question of Alaskan's gender came up a long time after I came across the said member here

My initial thoughts were male. Though its profiling and speculative, the comments were more likely generated by a male.

Cheers either way. I am an equal opportunity reader
