The Old Folks Home

I just served up a charred squirrel to each flock.
Squirrel, the other white meat.

I'd clean them to eat ourselves but I would probably be the only one in the family to eat tree rats.

How do you get rid of a hundred+ wasps? Burning won't work cause I don't want to lose my backhoe. Raid wasp spray is just pissing them off. I want to use the hoe NOW! not tomorrow. Took the tarp off and got stung several times before I knew what happened. Maybe I'll just take the kids fishing...

Home made bee suit.

Spectracide wasp and hornet spray works best.
I bought the Raid and the wasps laughed at it. I took it back to Lowe's and got my money back.

I concur on the Spectracide, it works great, but spray after dark for 2 reasons. a) it's less likely they'll see you to sting you. b) More of the little beggars in the nest. I've found I had to spray on 2 consecutive nights to get them all.

Fishing is ALWAYS a good idea.

I keep a can on both porches and in each outbuilding.

When we moved in here we had a severe wasp problem - IN THE WINTER.

We have a flat roof and there was no insulation in this old house. There were huge nests of wasps in the space between the roof rafters and ceiling joists. So that space stayed fairly warm from escaping heat. On any warm winter day, the wasps would become active and move into the walls and come out of the sash holes in the window frames.
My son got stung several times in his bedroom.
The first time I bombed that space there were thousands of wasps on the ground around the house and along the foundation wall in the basement. They wandered and fell between the brick wall and the lath and plaster. I bombed 3 years in a row and finally replaced the roof. I insulated and screened the inside of the ornate wrought iron vents on east and west walls. No problems since.
