The Old Folks Home

CC I hope things will settle down and that the rain will move on for a bit.

I would appeal it over and over! The VA turned my dad away and I took him to another hospital they admitted him and he died soon after. I will fight and Ins. company for everything I have if they won't do what I need them to.
My sister and her husband had to pay 1200. out of pocket for a full MRI for her husband becuase the Dr. said he had a cold but not for 2 months! After they paid for the scan they found he had lung cancer from the agent orange he was in for 9 years in Nam. He died a short time later.
Don't let them push you around Ron!
We are pushing to get to the center in San Francisco. We are being very pro active with this--UCSF does enough of these surgeries to be a good choice.

The Doctors often do not like when a patient researches though.

I balk at the price of the plate also. But the more I think about it the long term costs + everything else it would be worth it. Heat lamps are not cheap, not cheap to run, keep the chicks up all night making noise, are a fire hazard, can blow and you need to buy another bulb. Had a woman on our NY thread lose a whole litter of cream legbars in a outside brooder this winter when the bulb blew in the middle of the night, so she started using two, double the $. The plate has to be healthier for the chicks.

@ChickenCanoe I ordered mine directly from premier 1 website. I wouldnt worry about buying the covers. I paid $48 for mine.
I'm just so used to having chicks roost on top of their brooder I thought the cover would be a good idea. Not to mention that in very cold weather it may make the unit more energy efficient.

Ceramic emitters are much more durable than glass heat lamps. And if they do break, they don't make a mess, the just split around the neck.
In very cold weather always use 2 heat sources in case one fails.
