The Old Folks Home

WELL......Not exactly....seeeeee...what happens is this: The "Alcoholic Skeeters"wanna chow down on him....but....the "Housefly Girls"....think he smells too much like dead meat....an' wanna lay eggs on him....soooo....while they're busy rumbling....he walks away.....

BTW:....I'm not a fan of either of those gangs....the "Alcoholic Skeeters" suck......and ....the "Housefly Girls" are just easy lays.....

Too funny lmbo

Sour, Princess wears the tin hat at home because the greatest actors like to stay in character 24/7 to live the part. Why YOU wear them is anyone's guess.

I'm having doggy dilemmas, here on the farm. Well, actually, it's The Biscuit. He misses the old dog more than I realized. He started losing weight and his stress triggered Demodex came back. I put him back on his ivermectin and made it a point to schedule some play time with the house dog (who thinks her 15lbs can take his 95lbs, any day.) Then Monday night, he was bitten by a snake (likely a copperhead or rattlesnake) and has to stay in the house for a few days.

I don't know how he is going to feel about going back outside afterward. He's already gotten spoiled in the last 24 hours. Here he is on the floor with DS#1. See his swollen leg? And his smile?

Well my interview went very well yesterday.  I felt comfortable answering all the questions and asked a few in return.  There were a couple I didn't think of until after the interview that I am going to send back to the hiring manager on Monday.  SCG you can join me in Virginia.  We could be neighbors and get into all kinds of mischief! ;)   I just can't move to Maine to be your neighbor.  Part of the reason I want to get out of Utah is to have less snow to shovel.  I just can't do nine months of winter. ;)

I lived in Va way back in 1969-70 & my daughter was born there while her father finished his military stint. It's beautiful there-all green and lush. We never experienced any snow, but we were only there a yr and a half before moving back to New England. We were 2 hrs south of Richmond. Good luck on your move. I'm curious will you be able to move all of your animals there? We want to move from CA to NC & wondered if we will be allowed to move our fowl bc of the avian bird flu back east. We also have rabbits, so we'll be look8ng for a place in the country with a few acres so everyone can free range and have more room than we have her-us included.

lynnhill unfortunately I did not get the position in VA. I visited the area a few years ago and I really did like it and was sad to find out I didn't get the job. If I got the job, I was planning on rehoming my birds. I just can't move a flock of birds with me as we are planning on probably renting if we do get to move out of Utah. I want to free up our mobility with the next move until we are sure that is an area we want to retire in. We are starting to get closer to that age (I am hoping to retire in about 15 years) and I don't want to have to go through buying and selling a bunch more houses. It is such a pain to go through. I know selling the house we are in now will probably take a while once we get to the point where we are ready to sell it. I figure if we are renting (at least to start) the home owners probably won't want chickens on the property ;)

I'm sorry you didn't get the job in VA. It can be so heartbreaking when your hopes are so high but I wish you the very best on your job search. I have friends in St. George. I love that town. I find people to be so friendly there and I think it's pretty, too, with all the red clay plateaus. I've also visited by rv all of your beautiful national parks. Maybe someone else here on the forum will read this thread that has moved birds from one state to another and respond.
I am retired now-have been for several years. I act and feel 30,but my 65th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. It's hard for me to get it that I'm that old. Lol I'll have so much to do to move across country when I'm ready. Not just transporting my animals but selling 2 homes & moving a warehouse full of antiques from a previous business that I plan to restart once settled.Plus we have several big toys-a Harley, boat, rv, camping trailer and corvette. The car I've got some people interested in, so may sell it if the price offered is good; but everything else will go with us probably. In the meantime my present home will go through a huge remodel stage that I'm dreading bc I don't think I'll be staying here long enough to really enjoy it, but it needs the work done for the best resale value I can get from it. But thankfully I've got my fiance (getting married this Fall) to help with this, so for now I'm just enjoying my chickens, ducks, quail, goose, rabbits,7 tiny dogs, my parakeet and my desert tortoise...& my fiance too of course.lol Again wishing you all the best in your quest and hope you find what you are looking for.

lynnhill thank you very much. It is discouraging at times but I try not to take it personal and keep working on getting out of here. Yes the southern part of the state is my favorite part. I make a few trips down to "red rock country" each year. SCG and I did Zion earlier this year and I did Escalante over the 4th of July weekend with DH. Utah is a lovely place to visit but I am done with cold long winters. I spent too many years being spoiled in southern AZ to like being back where you have to shovel the white stuff. I can do hot and dry any day over cold and snowy. We won't take the birds with us but we will take the dogs. I already downsized all my horses. I sent two to go live with DD and the other three I sold off. It was difficult to do but I have to be more mobile if I am going to be this far away from DD and our granddaughter for now. I will continue to enjoy my birds though until we finally get to leave. Downsizing to be mobile is definitely hard to do.

. Downsizing to be mobile is definitely hard to do.

Isn't that the truth. The friends I have made, the place we live have all been structured around the birds and dogs. It can be limiting, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The Princess accepts the life style because she loves me. I am lucky in that I have access to a 'pet care' specialist who is very competent and dependable. Without her vacations would have been impossible.
