The Old Folks Home

Wait.... Ron, aren't those voles?

I thought so? Maybe they were being more rodent like?

Alaskan said she was heading to the bedroom to get away from the rats--she may have been talking about children though--

You never know exactly with Alaskan....

Hm... I know how to prevent such infestations but not how to treat them once you have them.

BF's face moves just a little bit this morning

That's a small, but significant, improvement.

You are the master of understatement, Ron.

Day 7 of babysitting my daughter's dogs, and the pugs are still alive.

Jeter, the 10 month old black lab, is obnoxious, boisterous, mischievous, energetic, hyperactive and filled with personality - we love her.

The pugs - not so much. Rocky is a pretty neat little guy, but is influenced by his obnoxious brother, Otis. They have been consigned to the kitchen and laundry rooms because both have tile floors - so easy to clean WHEN they urinate and defecate in the house. Thursday was 'pug wars' - Rocky had enough of Otis' crap and decided to whup his butt. Good thing those little faces and teeth can't do much damage. Crated Otis and allowed Rocky out throughout the day. Surprise! No urination or defecation in the house. Crated Otis last night and left Rocky out. Surprise! No urination or defecation in the house overnight. Took Otis out of the crate and walked both this morning - brought them inside, and Surprise! Otis peed on the floor.

Otis is a sociopath/psychopath and would probably be a serial killer if he were human. I understand why his first owners gave up on him. I can find no redeeming qualities. My daughter calls him 'an acquired taste'.

Rant over.

he hates dogs unfortunately.... Jack Russel is on my mouser list.... or a fox terrier... but i prefer the sturdy builds of Jack Russell

If anyone is a dog hater a Jack Russel will change your mind..... awesome dogs.... and very very smart.

Unfortunately, JR's are very active dogs and, yes, very smart. Sometimes too smart for their owners and, ergo, A LOT of JR's end up in the pound. (Sister got her darling Moose from there...fun dog, but I've never seen it walk anywhere.)

Okay, folks. Need a solution to a little dilemma. I need another word to use besides "retired." Said with a slightly southern accent and most people wonder why you're off the short bus. I've tried saying "I'm exercising an extended sabbatical" but even I lose interest halfway through that mouthful. What other words can be used to convey the positivity of being willfully not employed, done, off the hamster wheel?

How about Superannuated Emerita Let em figure it out. Or "I m writing a book...." works for me... Or exploring creative projects. Or living the life of liesure these days...

Yep I know about JRTs.... I have plenty of room for one both in and out of the house. and they NEED a job. Got plenty at the house... checking the parimeter... digging out critters in the yard... hunting down vermin in and out of the house.... Orbiting the bigger dogs.... Chief Auxiliary dogs orbit the bigger dogs to keep em on track.

Just tell them you're independently wealthy and don't need to work.
