We have been catching them every so often and looking and looking and looking.....

Can't find any, so I think the second dose got them all. We will keep an eye out though.

Congrats on killing them suckers!

Thanks!

I just grabbed an old hen today that looks like a mangy diseased thing....

She is TOTALLY free of parasites, I couldn't even find and old lice egg cases.

She just looks diseased because what with the former heavy lice load on top of molting season, she is solid pin feathers!

All along her belly, where lice egg cases had been, she is solid pin feathers, and they aren't in far enough yet to fully cover her keel, so some spots there on her skin have irritated/rubbed spots. Not bad though.

She is a super flighty leghorn, so she was very unhappy that
I was holding her every which way fir a full 10 minutes trying to find signs of parasites. However, she was totally clean! Not an egg case, not a chew spot, nothing!!

I sure am relieved.

I just pulled 2 loaves of amish sweet white bread out of the oven. My house smells divine.

For a wormer, I use Wazine monthly in the water in the wormy months (spring-fall). I have it recurring on my google calendar every 28 days along with worming the goats. If I suspect a heavy load I will do oral albendazole (brand Valbazen) after I do the Wazine but that's a pain because it requires 2 people and an oral syringe and we both end up wearing a lot of the wormer. Wazine keeps the worms in check.

That is great news. 24 hours after I did my first de-miting with Frontline I was amazed that there were no creepy crawlies and I was looking hard for them. It's a great feeling of vindication when you win.

Al, nice score! And nice that you've gotten rid of the creepy crawlies. We still haven't had any (knock on wood). I think spending all that time caulking all the gaps in my coop has really been worth it. We did treat with some pesticide for the first time ever this weekend, just as a precaution though. And we had some fecal tests done on the rabbits (Karin's old study buddy is doing some research), and the bunnies have a very mild concentration of Coccidiosis (Eimeria), but it seems they've built up resistance to it. Out of the 7 bunnies we butchered, one had slight changes in the liver (3-4 slightly whiter spots).

Chicka, looks like that's going to make a lovely broth. I'm gonna cook some bunny tonight, I'll try to get some pictures.
