The Old Folks Home

Hey, deb! Great on the cleaning. Job well done! Wanna let your OCD run free at my house? It's probably good for another 5 lbs.! I've got such inertia right now... My living room still looks like a warehouse with all the cardboard boxes I haven't gotten around to unpacking AND we've got company coming in from out of state for Thanksgiving. I think I'll be dropping off the radar for a bit as one of the guest rooms needs a thorough cleaning as it was the brooder room. Ugh. I'm exhausted just thinking about it all. I don't know that 4 shots of espresso will build any enthusiasm. For some reason I've been putting off assembling furniture and bookcases. (Again, I think I've been overthinking stuff and creating more projects... I know, "Just do it!" )

Loved the bit on the petrified french fries. What'll you do with all the coffee mugs?

Congrats on the great weigh in!

LOL.. paper coffee cups I peeled the petrified lids off stacked the cups and all went to the recycling. If it were real coffee cups I wouldnt a dun it....

ITs funny I am such a perfectionist that If I cant do it in an OCD manner I wont do it at all. so my place is always in disarray.

Today I hurt all over as if I were swinging a ten pound sledge hammer all day yesterday.

Deb, congratulations on both the cleaning, and the weigh in. Keep up the good work!

When I read the thing about the lady at Wal Mart, it got me too. Like Deb said, hook, line, and sinker. I just had to share it with y'all.

Thank you dsqard. Your pics are always so beautiful.

Cynthia I'm glad you like the bucket ideas. :) Maybe some fishing stuff in buckets for the boys if they are into fishing? My grandsons like games, fishing and hunting. So I try to go along those lines.
I have not seen the shrink wrapped cartoon characters. I will have to look for some. :)

Sometime if you have any barging buy out stores like big lot's or dirt cheap they buy out overstock of make up and nail polish and all kinds of stuff. When I find stuff like that I buy all I can get.
One year I bought a 30 gal. bag of make up and nail polish and that is why I thought up that idea. They loved it! But maybe you could hunt some things like that for boys?

I went yesterday and started the little plastic containers! It was fun picking out polishes.. and got a different container for the boys. Had fun picking those things out too..love the idea of fishing things.
The cartoon things are wash cloths, can't remember if I mentioned that or not. Unwrap the shrink wrap..when they put them in the water they unfold into spider man, cinderella, sponge bob...etc.... They are fun for the younger ones.

You guys are all so awesome! Wisher all of those ideas for boys are great! I only had one and there are a few items I never would have let him have (he is smart as a whip but is short on the common sense side).
Deb congratulations on working on that pile of things that needed to be sorted and organized and losing weight at the same time. Total win win!

Getaclue you completely got me with that story. I guess we are all suckers for a feel good story and of course urban legends will always add that nasty twist. Well done

With the snow on Sunday I got my buttocks into gear today after work. I went in 2 hours early today and made sure I left 2 hours early, too. Then I spent some time (about 2 hours) removing the dirt from my raised beds/sacks in front yard, putting it in the wheelbarrow, trudging it up the hill and into the backyard chicken run where I dumped it to fill the biddy bunkers. I've now got all the garden chores done. Still need to finish planting my bulbs, make some covers for the spigot and exhaust to protect it from the snow, wrap the hives/make and install candyboards on the hives, change the waterers out to the heated ones (not quite yet) and bring the 2 cords of wood in. That last one is going to suck. Thursday I'm getting my chimney and stoves cleaned and a pellet delivery.

THEN IT CAN SNOW.

Bulbs! I need to get some tulip bulbs. Trying to catch up on those that I pulled out fall before last. I like the big ones, got quite a few for this past spring, but want more..they aren't cheap. I like a lot..a lot. :)

I had to google what a cord was in understandable units. Here wood is measured in cubic meters ('motti' is what a cubic meter of firewood is called in Finnish).

I think i may have use a quarter of a chord total at my house. Myself... My roommate was a wood burner.

My house walls have an incredibly good R value makes up for the fact that the living room has three sliding glass doors. One is single pane the others are double pane... there are also three windows one in the living room two in the kitchen One of those is broken. With the pot belley it keeps things warm. But we dont heat the main portion of the house only the bedrooms.

My bedroom Has a sliding glass door single pane... There are three windows that open one that is fixed and the door to the green house room is a single pane french door. I use an electric oil heater in there. does a good job... I am thinking of making storm shutters for two of the windows... for the inside. Just foam with foil on it.

I have a fireplace. I have turned it on twice now. No chords needed.

Wish I had a wood burning one. :( We have the built in place for a chimney. Now, just need the money to build a fireplace.
