The Old Folks Home

I am loving all the different sewing projects on here.  Alaskan, do you have a link to where you found that chicken quilt?  It is really cute and I would like to see if I can find the pattern.

I looked, I found it shared on facebook, and it will not let me go to the original post. :idunno sorry.

I finished the last panel this morning before we headed into work.  Oh and it is snowing now, has been snowing since last night and is supposed to snow into tomorrow evening.  Yay

Snowed here too :sick

If we get a foot I will have to plow. :sick Luckily so far it has been 6 inches or less at a time, so no plowing yet.

I just know how excited DiDi is right now!

There is a lady on the alaskan flock talk facebook page that has shown her roll out nestboxes... Swank!!!

Hers are home made communal boxes. The eggs roll out to the collection part up against a strip of pipe insulation with a heat tape in it... So no frozen eggs!

Alaskan thank you for looking. I will see if I can find it somewhere on the net. If not, I will probably copy the picture and do my own pattern. I have a list of other projects I need to get done first anyway.

Cynthia yup you know just how "happy" I am today

Roll out nests allow the egg to roll out of reach of the hens after its layed There are all sorts of ways to do it from low tech to high tech.

This one is high tech. the notches are for adjustment. but the egg rolls forward under the perch. out of sight. The perch is designed for closing off the nest at night time... NO SLEEPING in the nest boxes.

Been around for a while roll out nest boxes. some roll out the front some roll out the back.

I want a tunnel nest setup One hole many hens can access at once. And roll out capabilities.
I am going to build one of these eventually.

Hey... I can dream right?
