Just a thought about the season with my favorite two types of critters

Those nest boxes are really neat - I bet they cost a fortune.

I have had a bad morning, I lost 6 hens. And I was already having problems trying to fill egg orders.
So I ordered a pullet rainbow assortment it should be here Thurs or Fri.

Time to string up some dogs... sorry for the losses. What are egg orders? I haven't had any to sell in over a month! ****** slacker chickens! the few they do lay they eat before I can get them!

You want eggs you should get some pekins. My duck lays like clockwork and her mother did as well. She lays an egg every morning between 0300 and 0500. The line I have doesn't miss a day. There's also some crap rumor going around about "if you give ducks water at night they lay more." My ducks don't get water in their house - they get water when they're let out in the morning (albeit it's early) and until they go to bed. My ducks have also learned commands (they're actually smarter than the chickens, who are all smarter than the turkeys. The jury is still out on the guineas but I fear they and the turkeys are going to be fighting it out for the most stupid) and if they weren't such a mess with water would be by far the best barnyard animals I have ever had. They're so happy, too.

Roll out nests allow the egg to roll out of reach of the hens after its layed There are all sorts of ways to do it from low tech to high tech. This one is high tech. the notches are for adjustment. but the egg rolls forward under the perch. out of sight. The perch is designed for closing off the nest at night time... NO SLEEPING in the nest boxes. Been around for a while roll out nest boxes. some roll out the front some roll out the back. I want a tunnel nest setup One hole many hens can access at once. And roll out capabilities. I am going to build one of these eventually. Hey... I can dream right? deb

I am a bit worried about the rainbow layers I am getting. They already shipped them wow! That was fast ordered and shipped in the same day. Geesh Dh and I had to run out to get stuff so we will be ready for the chicks when they get here.
I hope I don't get any small fufu chickens, I won't have anywhere to put them.

Why would you order chicks from a hatchery when you have a great incubator and friends with chicken benefits?
