I am ALL for that! Or how bout we just permanently change the clocks by 1/2 hour (split the difference) and make that the standard, and leave everything else the same... no changing work hours or anything else.

OK for all you snow lovers/haters... We had a winter weather advisory yesterday turn into a winter storm warning last night. I right now have about a foot or more of snow with more coming down. There is also some decent wind so I have a 3' deep drift running the length of the front of my house and across my front patio blocking my front door. The advisory is in effect for another hour then it's supposed to start clearing out. We'll see if it get's updated/changed or stays the same. Last update was ~ 9am this morning.

I'm sure this situation makes SCG and AL very jealous...

Luckily I'm retired so I don't "have" to shovel... I'll let things settle down and maybe do some clearing tomorrow.

I have my garden tractor with 50" blower all set up (and no place to go), I'll be right over Joe. How long will it take at my max speed of 7 MPH (assuming I don't get pulled over repeatedly for having an unregistered "vehicle" on the road)?

LMAO Bruce! Too funny! 7mph hmmmm maybe you'll make it by next winter? I at one point in my life owned a 3/4 ton Chevy with an 8' Fisher plow... That was when I lived in Maine and coincidentally was on a tour of duty requiring over seas deployments... that just HAPPENED to occur over winter the entire time I was there

So for the four year tour timeframe, I got to use the plow ONE winter for about 4 months. and that was a dry winter... <sigh> Anyway, after that tour I transferred south so traded that truck in on a 1/2 ton. much better mileage. Probably nothing compared to your garden tractor though

Actually, I suspect my 24 HP garden tractor gets way worse mileage than your 300 HP 1/2 ton truck. I figure about 1 gallon/hour while mowing. I'm not travelling anywhere near top speed but since the engine has to be running full out when mowing or blowing I would guess 7 MPG would be about what I would get. And don't hold dinner for me, it only has a 2.5 gallon tank, I'll be stopping for gas a LOT!

Now if I put a shovel in my Prius, I could be there a LOT quicker and get > 50 MPG to boot. That might exceed the MPG of your truck by a wee bit.

That is a BIG dog!! There is a farmer near me that has a grader that is pulled by his draft horses....maybe you could borrow it for your dog to plow you out!!
