OK, so I can identify w/Alaska... was getting short on clothes and couldn't figure it out. Found one 1/2 load clean in a basket waiting for folding, one load in the washer, another in the dryer, and three more needing both... Guess how I spent my day! Just finished almost an hour of folding and putting away. Bed clothes get the treatment tomorrow. Amazing how stuff gets done when expecting company...

I should have you come to my house... You could do laundry here.... :D Oh, wait, no power.

Glory to God I have wood heat!

And it isn't too cold, so all of the houses that I have to take care of should be OK, and free of busted pipes until morning.

We had a very nice Christmas day. We did wind up staying inside all day because the weather turned out to be nasty in the morning but by the afternoon the wind had died down and the snow had stopped. We had a wonderful feast of turkey and all the fixings. I will miss DD, SIL and granddaughter terribly when they leave but we have a couple more days before that happens. We are going to try the museum again today. Hopefully Miss Liv will cooperate and not scream in the car seat.

Little people make every moment extra-special, don't they?

At best I am Agnostic... I am fascinated by all religions. their history and origins. My son is leaning toward Atheism. He probabaly knows more about more religions than I.

And he probably knows more about religions than people who follow a particular faith. A few years back there was an online poll from a reputable polling company. The people who answered the most questions correctly were Atheists, followed by Mormons. People of a particular faith generally did well with the questions related to that faith (but more atheists knew that Mother Teresa was Catholic than Catholics did!

Merry Christmas to me! Another present for me! My RSL gave me her first egg today. Small for now, will get larger.

Same here with my second Black Jersey Giant. Got a very dark one 2 days ago, at first I thought it was from the White Rock that lays darker than the other but it was darker still so it couldn't be given she has been pretty consistent and later in the day I got one from each of the WRs. So it HAD to be a JG. When I opened the barn yesterday only 15 girls came out and one of the JGs was missing. Yep, in the nest laying her second egg (I thought).

When I got them all back to the barn about 10 so we could head to my in-laws, Eos was just finishing up her aqua egg. The BJG egg was quite a bit lighter than the one from the day before and I decided maybe she just went overboard tinting her first egg. Wife said maybe it was the other BJG but I wasn't sure.

We got back from the in-laws about 8 PM and I went out to collect whatever else had been laid. FOUR more eggs and one was the same very dark brown as the prior day! Unless Athena is laying the same green color as Penelope, she is the only one of the June pullets not yet laying.

This was easier with the older hens when they first started laying, they ALL squatted from me starting about a week before. NONE of these broody raised birds squat except when one of the older lazy butt girls jumps them so the "early notice" system doesn't work. They have all had red faces for a fairly long time and only Athena's comb is still noticeably smaller than the 2 EEs that are laying. But I think she is close.
