The Old Folks Home

Thanks to my supporters, my trip to the grocery store was successful. I found my Rocky road ice cream - the guy said it was the last one. It was also pretty squishy. They were doing inventory and most of the stock was out of the freezer in grocery carts. But, trooper that I am - I took it anyway. Probably all ice crystals and stuff but the flavor I set out to get.

chickadoodles, that sounds like it would be lovely when they all boom, with so much variety. Let me know when you clean out the bed, and I would be glad to give you the money for postage to send some to me. I've never done Irises before, but they are very pretty, and delicate looking.

Sheep/goat "deck chair"

https://www.premier1supplies.com/detail.php?prod_id=86

Referenced by a friend on another forum. Said it was EASY to trim her goats' feet with this. You back the animal up until they end up sitting in the chair which is hooked into a wire fence (or whatever works for you). Seems a great idea to me, all 4 feet up in the air where they are easy to see and hold. No feet on the ground to get purchase to struggle.

Um, and you have CNL's phone number stored? Sounds like you get along with her better than I would have guessed.

I would still be locked in were I in your situation, cell phone doesn't work at the house, the Verizon tower is over the hill and we are in a dead spot.

Ok Found a Video..... Hes doing all the things I was thinking about for managing goats... using a squeeze to get them contained an the deck chair that he made.

I would add a velcro strap to go across the chest just to stabilize the critter keep them layed back because they could get out on their own.... which is a good thing.

Just FYI this is a position that goats and sheep handle very well.... If you have ever seen Sheep being Sheared on TV or on YouTube. This would be a great tool for a larger flock like about this size. YOu can inspect the critter from head to to for all sorts of things but most of all for hoof trimming and Treatment.... Foot rot is common amongst all hooved animals.... Sheep Deer cows goats horses.... Its simple to treat if the animal is cooperative... A good cleaning and a squirt of the antifungal product of choice. Even if you have to debrade and wrap the foot with a bandage.

Its amazing the nasty looking rotting feet can recover.

THIS. I NEED THIS.
We have a stanchion but they've become wise to their head being locked in and their hooves being clipped. Getting them on the stanchion is a bigger feces show than my show yesterday.

And yes, I'm a phone number hoarder. I might need it at some point. Don't give me your phone number.

The person who showed it on the other forum had a halter on her goats and tied their heads back to the upper cross piece. I'm sure strategically placed heavy duty velcro would work if your critters aren't wearing halters. She did it by herself, just backed them into the seat.

Ok great. The daffodils boom first, then the purple iris and then the white lilies. So they don't all bloom at the same time but they are beautiful.
