chicka, It looks like a lilac, except for the leaves. Our lilacs have a point on the leaves. It might be a variety of Japanese Lilac Tree. Even those seem to have a more pointed leaf that those you have pictured. Here is a link, but not a very good pic.

I was over on BYH yesterday and saw your August video of the dogs Wisher. How are they doing now that Bubby has been there a few more months?? I was surprised that your last post in February said Bubby was the jumper and Biscuit the calm one. Big difference from the first post where Biscuit had total disregard for you as the "pack leader"

Biscuit has turned into the love bug, after a couple of major fights, that I won. I had to jump in his "stuff" a couple of times. He really calmed down when Bubby arrived. First they fought, then they worked it out, and now Biscuit is definitely the better behaved.....well, except that he is back to "playing" with the chickens, again. All in all, he has better manners toward humans and Bubby has better manners toward the stock. I wouldn't take anything for them, they are worth their weight (all 210lbs combined) in gold!

I am pretty sure that is Privet.........

SCG I would fix those goats, just remove the door period. Then I suppose they will dig traps - big holes and cover them with vines and leaves- waiting for you to fall in.

I had to do that to my son, growing up. He used to slam the door so hard -we had cracks in the ceiling and wouldn't stop. So I had the door taken off the hinges - ha ha! I don't remember how long was door was off but, it made quite an impression on him . He stopped slamming the door.

This makes me smile. I, on the other hand, had such loud music my parents encouraged the use of a closed door.

I need the door in the winter to protect against blowing snow and blowing without snow. And I lock them in at night, otherwise when they see us in the house through the windows they'll jump on the fence and belt out sorrowful screams that make me want to murder them with my bare hands. I've located the bungee in the woods (they managed to get the one end off on the door which flung it into the woods) and reinstalled it this morning. Why do I feel like I'm playing a game of chess with caprines?

This piece is from new growth but I do not recall any of the leaves being pointed. So I am not sure. I am going to try to root some cuttings to put closer to my garden and orchard to hopefully attract bees earlier.
