The Old Folks Home

We had a skunk-cident early this morning. BF got home around midnight. I was still up, but barely. He slides into bed about an hour later and then 10 minutes later we're assaulted by this smell. Best I can tell a skunk got into a fight with something (probably another skunk for the smell of it) under our bird feeder station which is right next to a window (for cat and human enjoyment).

The whole house had a concentrated skunk smell. It was impossible to sleep.

I'm having company in an hour.

My life is fabulous.

What a shame you can't arrange for such things to happen when the sort of company that wears out their welcome almost before they set foot in the door are coming . . . . .

I know, right? This is an unexplored niche. Maybe we could start selling Skunk-breeze, to spray cautiously around the house prior to your unwelcome company.

However, my life is fabulous. While the house smells like a conglomeration of skunk-pocalypse and Yankee Candle Heaven, a few minutes ago my lovely BF walks down the hall (stark naked, mind you, and yes, company will be here in less than 10 minutes) and asks me where I found my rooster.

I have no idea what he's been up to the last 2 days but either he was resurrected or he's channeling my pumpkin that left last fall and then returned a few days later.

Terrific - the rooster has come back from wherever BF's clothes have now disappeared to? Not sure that's an improved situation.

I know - maybe this is one of those "alien abduction" situations. They brought back the chicken, and took the skunk. Bet they never do that again!

Welcome gpeters3 :frow Alaskan I wish you all good luck on Friday. :fl Well my Buckeye hen went broody again! This is the 4th time. She does not get the hatching thing. :( But I ordered 20 cornish x so tonight I am going to put the chicks under her and hope she will raise them. I put her in the chick side of the coop that has baby wire around the bottom of the run so they have a small yard outside also. I will give them feed in the am and pm only. So they will have to stay separate from my layer flock since they have auto feeders and have always been able to eat when ever they want. Scg I hope that fox moves on!
They look like popcorn :)
