The Old Folks Home

I have messed around with a lot of different mediums, but my real passion is animation, specifically 2D animation. I would love, love to be a 2D animator. I've never done animation before because I can't afford a drawing tablet or animation program, but I sketch people, places and animals as often as I can. I'm sure they look like crp to everyone else, but it is a sketchbook after all

The person who told you you'd never be an artist was an idiot, who tells someone that?! Clearly you enjoy creating stuff, and in my eyes that's all that matters.

You are absolutely right. He was a professor in college. it was a drawing class. I was 19 and very inexperienced with people.... I took him litterally.

I did become a Designer though. What I learned in college for design was through a single class called Art Composition. There are softwares out there for 2D animation... and you can get access through your Student ID. Talk to your teachers or councelors at school and see if you can get access.... I know Corel has an animation program So does Autocad.... but there are share ware softwares out there.

Let me finish it before it becomes an heirloom.

It's a gift, do with it what you please.

The amount of hours I spend on a quilt - picking out fabric, piecing the top, basting the sandwich, actually doing the quilting work, squaring it up and then binding it - seems to some like a barrier to use. To me, a quilt that is faded, is wearing thin in spots, has stains and pet hair on it, is a loved quilt. So don't let any of this be a reason to make it an heirloom. I made it for you to love and enjoy it. You can still do what you want with it, but this is your permission to use the hell out of it.

A professor? Pffft what a moron. I'm home educated now so I don't have a card. But I'll continue to draw, good basic drawing skills are fundamental to learning animation anyway :)

Took me a number of years to finally get my kids to register that just because a person is a "teacher" does NOT mean they are always right! In fact, many have been brainwashed by their education to the point they have no more concept of reality.

there are several programs here in the US where home schoolers can get resources.... dig a little if you can. But I know you can get books that are designed for self paced education in specific software.... Some times they come with Student copies of that software. Look on line.... Those softwares have a water mark if you print... but are fully functional. and will give you practice.

I will dig a little....

49.00 us

they offer a free trial. Its been my experience the free trials are the full software and when the time limit runs out you have the option of purchasing it. What that will give you is the licence key which unlocks the software you have already on your computer.

One thing as I am doing this research and from my own research into Cad Software.... start small learn fast you can always upgrade either to better software or to the next version. AND a biggie.... anything that manipulates images and stores graphical data will be MEMORY hogs.

Once you create your project and save it off into its file the storage is smaller than when you are in the process of creating it.

My latest computer was one I had built to my specifications about four years ago. NVidea video card with Gig of memory on it just to store models and images of them. 250gig SSD drive for storage.... I need a TB for my work if I were doing it any more.

There are other more educated individuals on this thread that can help with the specifics... The last computer I built my self was back before Windows.
