The Old Folks Home

There's still time SCG, should get bigger. Ours actually haven't set fruit yet I don't think, haven't looked in a few days, down by our pond in full sun.
We've had good luck growing sugar baby watermelon, they're small though. Have a couple of them going and trying a bigger one also this yr, Charleston gray.
Last yr we didn't get any, weeds took over I didn't keep up with them. Plant pumpkins down there also, their big leaves drown out the weeds. Watermelon leaves just don't cut it for sun blocking weeds, and they grow too low to the ground. I only till a 18" wide row, basically growing on lawn. I use my weed wacker to buzz as close as I can to the vines and shave the weeds/grass just above them, seems to work pretty good.

I spent the morning picking blueberries. Came home and made 2 rounds of spiced blueberry jam (and a third round teaching someone how to make their own). Then I made a blueberry pie. Then I decided I was already hot and sweaty and the kitchen was a mess and my pie crust recipe makes 2 bottoms and one top... so I also pulled some pumpkin out of the freezer and made a pumpkin pie because I didn't feel like freezing a crust. That pie is about to come out of the oven, now.

Put a fork in me, I'm done.

I think the last time I made a pie I was about sixteen or seventeen.... Pecan....

Not a fan of blueberry pie, either, but I make it because it's bf's favorite. He gets it a few times a year. Now me, mine's pumpkin. But I'll have a slice of the blueberry tonight to play well with others.

On the other hand, my spiced blueberry jam is my favorite.
