Quote: Ditto. I live in California and definitely want out of this State. But but no worries, Alaskan,bc I hate cold, snowy weather, so Alaska isn't for me :) My husband lived up there for 20 years when he was alot younger. He'd probably not mind it a bit,but oh well. That's why I ended up in a very hot place in CA.bc I used to live in New England prior to CA. CA is getting terrible about EVERYTHING,and now that I'm old,I can't handle the 105++days on end anymore.I just don't think there's a place in the U.S. where I could find mid 70° summers and no snow winters (winters like we have here),and I need some woods around me,too :)

Hi.... San Diego is close no trees though. Mediterranean climate we do get a couple of hot days during the summer. Though if you want pine trees we have the Cuyamacas... Snow in our mountains is just a few days a year.

I am on the highdesert side of those mountains by the Mexican border. and Yep we get snow... But our annual precipitaion up there is nine inches incuding snow.

Alaskan never knew you were a "closet" heat lover. Didn't you originate from Texas and move to the great icebox (Alaska)?

Yep... Love the people up here, hate the weather. :idunno

How is your dad doing by the way....  :pop

Not sure.... My mom says he is doing better...but I think she tends to be a bit delusional in regard to his condition. She so very much doesn't want him to be demented that she does not actually see him as he is. -sigh-

He is finally engaging in regular exercise, so there probably is some improvement. I am still ticked off at the man......

We are getting hit again. I know you southern folks won't relate but SCG and Alaskan (and Tara) will understand. We have not been below the low 70's at night lately and daytime highs in the high 80's/low 90's and +70% humidity and we're DYING!!!

My poor chooks are all northern breeds (of course) and geared for coping with cold weather and lack the "radiators" (aka large combs and wattles) for cooling so I have to make sure they are staying in the shade and making them large puddles to lay and play in.

As soon as all these storm systems are done rolling thru we are supposed to at least be back in the 70's and reasonable humidity for daytime and a much cooler low 50's at night.
Well, at least we aren't in a drought anymore.

Yes, it is very difficult to go from freezing to melting.

Up here though we have been RAINING AND RAINING!! :barnie every bleebing night! Most of every bleebing day!!! I do NOT live in Seattle! What is up wth this weather?!?!?!?

I see you lurking there!

Okay, lets start a discussion.  I have 45 or so chickens and three guineas.  I want everything else I see, goats, geese, llamas, donkeys.  I am conflicted between my love of my animals and the concessions my family has to make for me to have them.  There is the time I must devote to them, the money I spend that could be put elsewhere and the emotional attachment I develope.  Is there anyone else who worries that they are not being fair to the rest of the clan?
well sometimes I think the bunnies feel they aren't getting as much attention as the chickens.lol

The entire world is losing its collective mind... and forcing their dementia onto the rest of us who are trying our best to remain sane and sensible.

Amen.

hi Deb. I remember you. We talked quite a bit before. I know San Diego has beautiful weather, but I need the country with land and the woods surrounding me. And, unfortunately, last I heard, San Diego is still in CA. :) it's one of my favorite cities to visit though.

We are in a major drought here. We got only 2.5 inches of rain in June, 1.5 inches of rain in the month of July (spread out) and so far in August 0.09 inches. This is the exact data from the national weather service for my area.

It has been so hot and dry (rain wise) but humid. Today it feels like the jungles of Costa Rica out there. It was 97 when I left work today. I am certain I'm going to get prickly heat on my butt again.

The state drought team is meeting and talking about the possibility of wells going dry. The prediction is that it's going to be drier than usual through October. We're rationing water.
