Oh MY!!!! Rocky Road instead of Gourmet Dark Chocolate, THE HORROR!!!
ep.gif
The world as we know it has ended! The warning says to stop eating it immediately and bring the receipt to the store for a full refund. I'm afraid I might not be able to tell I was eating Rocky Road with nuts, etc. instead of plain chocolate before I reached the bottom of the container. I mean really, right???

Figured a non-Google-able pic like that would still be recognized by you @perchie.girl , yup, he called it 'passing the double D nuk plant!' Lol!, on his way to San Diego for his cousin's beach wedding. His mom and sister moved out there from here about 20 yrs ago, he visits every few yrs for a week to a month. Never personally have gave thought to ever making it to California myself but dang he's posting some awesome beach and boardwalk pics between San Clemente, Del Mar, and Venice Beach, bar pics, restaurant pics, San Diego beach wedding pics... The USA sure does have some beautiful sights, coast to coast. (except for the scary nuke plants

).

They started the first one in 1964. My maternal grandparents lives in Leucadia, then Rancho Bernardo. We passed those plants every time we went to visit. The other memorable sights were a town so small that if you blinked you missed it and the animated Coppertone billboard with the little black dog pulling down the bottoms (all she was wearing) of a little girl's bathing suit. The things one remembers decades later!

After months of no rat activity, they're baaaaaaaaaaack.

I'm complaining about them in the hopes they go away.

I hear that's how this works.

Um, hate to burst your bubble SCG but I've been complaining (and game cam capturing) rats in my feed room. They are still there. Based on the individual photos I have at least 1 mom, 1 dad and one child.

The other day after listening to the news, I turned and suggested maybe it was time to move to Canada. DH, who was raised in Wisconsin and no stranger to winter immediately said no 'Too Cold!'

Oh well, I tried.

There are parts of British Columbia that are warmer than Wisconsin

Is this typical of Maine?
Maybe you will get your precipitation this winter

No, it's not. We are usually pretty wet - a few years back I actually grew mushrooms in my bathroom between the grout because it rained all spring and summer. We're in the midst of a significant drought and they're predicting it will go through winter. Not that a snowfall actually helps us since it won't melt until April...

See that Perchie.girl is on vacation. What's everyone else been up to?

BF has a friend up and they're pretending they're 18 again. I spent a good part of yesterday pulling up the flowering gardens to prepare them for winter. I have 2 to go. After I was exhausted of that I went back to autumn sewing. Finished it today

I'll put the game cam out tonight. For every 1 you see there's 10 you don't

Today I:

Made cookie dough, scooped out onto a cookie sheet and froze them to bake fresh later
Baked sourdough bread that I started last night
Changed the air filter, oil filter and oil on the Civic
Repaired the bottom seal on the garage door.

Later, I will mow the lawn and clean up the chicken yard and of course I need to wash eggs!

At 2 pm I will start a pot roast.

Quite a busy Sunday!

There is harvesting going on in the Midwest over both Thanksgiving and Christmas some times. Several years ago I asked a lady we know whose family farmed how the harvest was going and she said slow. She didn't mind eating Thanksgiving Turkey in the harvester--had done it many times but he would be darned if she would unwrap Christmas gifts in one.

Yes, we could all use some special blessings this year. In all my 63 years on this earth I have never seen things as bad as they are now. Not even during the Viet Nam war era although it comes close. The other day after listening to the news, I turned and suggested maybe it was time to move to Canada. DH, who was raised in Wisconsin and no stranger to winter immediately said no 'Too Cold!'

Oh well, I tried.
We've missed the last 3 Thanksgivings to harvesting, but I'm so glad we don't have the option to harvest at Christmas.
No one makes a turkey though cause I'm in the combine.

Although in '99 we have a pic of everyone standing on my Gran's deck in our t-shirts and there was no snow. Now THAT was pretty cool!

I don't think we are that much different or safer up here.
I think our news isn't heard as readily.
I always try to believe in the best in people.
Our closest little city (50,000) has frequent news of muggings, sexual assaults and general chaos.
The whole world has lost it's **** mind.

I would be tickled to open chocolate ice cream and end up with Rocky Road.

With the allergy risk, I do understand.

If it the mistake was a reversal of the contents...not so bad.

This is true. NOT that I've ever been there to experience it.

Quote: Ugh, isn't that the truth!
I hate rats. Hubby and I are locked in battle trying to see who can trap the most rats with our own specific methods.
We've trapped over 30 so far.All of a sudden our rats are incognito in our tractor shop.
I bated all my traps last night and spread some marshmallow happiness away from the traps to see if I'd see some response.
Nope.
The rats seemed to have flew the coop so to speak.
Could it, would it be possible that my cutie bunnies are the antidote for rats???
The rats seemed to disappear the same time my bunnies started running free.
Wouldn't that just be fantastic??!!?! I'd MUCH rather have bunnies than rats!
Male bunnies were selling $1/bunny at the fall sale. Cutie bunnies!!!

I can always hope.

Can I hire you, Ron?
We could use someone that handy. I like that you can cook!
(Especially for the days I don't cook)

My cheap calendar from the Dollar store doesn't list Canadian holidays, does show Ramadan and others like that.. and Bastille day for the French. Wonder who is making these calendars.

One I mistakenly bought last year at Target, started each week on Monday, goofed me up badly, so threw it out . It didn't list ANY holidays on it.

  • I got my alpaca boys from down the road (actually, they were delivered
    wink.png
    )
  • Found where all the chickens were hiding from the alpacas. 3 haven't left the coop all day, 8 were out in front of the house and 1 was under the lilac bush by the pool deck. Will be interesting to see how easy, or not, it is to convince the outside girls to go to the coop for the night. There is a gate in the run between the avian and mammel ends of the barn but they just don't know what to think (besides FEAR) about those big hairy things.
  • Cleaned the wood stove chimney
  • Picked the squash (Red Kuri, Winternut and Crookneck Golden Summer)
  • Herded Yuki around after my wife tired of it after DD1 tired of it. She kept working her way around the outside of the fence and going to the fence around the barnyard/pond area. I finally trapped her in the weeds against the fence and put her over.
  • Found Yuki's latest outside nest, again in 5' tall weeds down by the pond. At least this time it is only about 10 feet in on the south side. 2 eggs and clearly there had been another that had broken but there were no shell pieces. Last time it was about 25' in on the north side, 9 eggs. The prior one was out by the road, 5 eggs. The one before that was inside the front yard fence, 13 eggs. Stupid chicken! She laid in the nest boxes just fine last winter and through the spring.
  • Soaked my right foot while hunting for the nest

The boys, Laddie and Teddy

Just finished up fall cleaning in the coop. 5 tractor buckets full of future fertilizer for the yard and garden next year.
How can such pretty fluffy butts make so much doody anyway?

Thank goodness that job is done till spring cleaning when I get to do it all over again.
