The Old Folks Home

We had a shallow well when I was growing up and every summer it went dry. My parents were both school teachers and luckily were able to take us to one of their schools for a shower a few times a week. When they went to sell the house they were told it wouldn't sell unless they dug the well deeper, so they did. Funny how it never occurred to us to do that.

I don't know how deep my well is here but I do know that many wells in this area have gone dry due to our extreme drought this year. Even if we get high precipitation this winter it won't help us until spring when it melts. I can only hope we continue to get rain throughout fall. Only about another month left.

Been working since I got up this morning and got all my assigned chores done. Time to sew!

I don't know what you are getting now SCG but we are drowning at the moment. 3 days of rain. Not that we can't use it but the solar array output is

Windy (gusts up to 40 mph) with a high of 47. Almost feels like snow if I didn't know better. I just refilled all the wild bird feeders and the birds are going crazy feeding. They think it feels like snow, too. The bird activity always picks up before a storm. Weather.com says 0% chance of precip today, tomorrow and Tuesday and only 10% Thursday and Friday.

Despite it all I have the windows open. A stinky bag of trash started that for me, but with a sweater on it feels nice in here.

We had a LITTLE patchy light snow last night, lots of wind as well. Wife is pushing for me to put her snow tires on. Looks like we shouldn't have more rain today so I guess that is first on my "to-do" list. Supposed to get 13 hours of winds gusting to the high 20's starting 4 PM tomorrow.

I'm on my tablet and decided to use some of my data plan, and check in.

My interview has been posted.

We are in our new home, sort of. There is some semblance of order, but still have soooo many more boxes to unpack and still have lots of setting things up to do. We don't get TV or internet until Tues.

I hope everyone's injuries heal quickly.

Yep.... going on six years of drought... My well was down 100 feet four years ago.... and its 450 feet deep....

so I feel your concern.... here they wont extend an existing well... they will only drill a whole new one. Cost is the same.

Here is hoping lot's of ground water to all

Been learning how to make a few new things and to can. Got a batch of pumpkin butter in the freezer and this batch of pear butter just came out of the canner. I also finished a present for someone special but I can't share that picture
