Next day was cold rain, went to a few places I saw deer in the past, lotsa brush and golden rods, would've got soaked first thing so decided to drive back to the trails and took the 3.8mi Pillsbury Lake trail. Longer but much easier walk than the tower trail, that hike was brutal. Was hoping to go all the way to the leanto and lake, was flooded just before I got to it. Found a tough path through a swamp and got a couple pics from the tail end, couldn't navigate around the bank either, too thick and water running everywhere. Changed to snow on the way down. Was completely soaked, went back to the truck and completely changed. Put my military Mickey Mouse boots on and headed back out the trail. Ran into a couple hikers that had been on the three day full west canada lakes loop, 23+ miles. They said 'you know we're in rough shape wearing our dirty stinky wool socks for gloves lol!' And they were Lol!:-D
I asked them how they made it past the lean-to on Pillsbury lake? They said it was only six inches deep, beavers made a dam and flooded the area. Said they saw some moose also, wish I saw some moose.
I got to that spot that morning, was boards acrossed it, tried to hug the side and hoped they were big beams I could walk acrossed, first board was floating, and in the middle the sideways board water was flowing, so I didn't dare go any further, I was already soaked and cold, leather hunting boots were sopping wet. If I was wearing the mickey's then I would have ventured further to the lean-to, big Y shaped lake with islands in the middle of the Y, can see the first island in my pics.
