The Old Folks Home

Glad you're home getaclue

X2! :clap

@1FlewOver
 I'm glad you are still alive after all that- had swine flu not fun.  I should say stop smoking but I expect they have all been at you for that, Doctors can be so boring:idunno I also smoke shouldn't either but there you go - one of life's little pleasures:ya

X2 again!

After the Cancer, a doctor told me: "You shouldn't be smoking!" I said OK Doc, tell me who should.

It wasn't the Swine flu that almost killed me, it was pnuemonia, followed by some strange bacterial infection. But seriously, if I hadn't gotten medical attention when I did, I probably would be dead.

A strange aside, in the hospital, a neighbor called me and asked where I was on my cell phone. The cops were breaking in my house and a couple of the neighbors were freaking because my next door neighbor was found dead in his house, and they got to thinking they hadn't seen me in a few days. ( Both my cars were there, because I took a taxi....l had a feeling I might be there a while, and didn't want to worry about parking or my vehicle's safety.)

And this is funny: the cops were removing a window unit AC to gain access, while one step inside a chain link fence gate, was my unlocked back door!

1Flew, glad you are doing better.

It's not like I ignored this, or anything. I was under the care of my PCP for 3 months first, then referred to a pulmonologist, and have been under his care for a little over 2 months. The only thing any of them did was prescribe meds. NONE of them did any chest X-rays, labs, or any other diagnostics. Had any of them bothered to order a simple chest X-ray, they would have caught this a long time ago, before it got so serious. I still have over a liter, and a half of fluid in my left lung, but they can only SAFELY remove so much at a time. Now that the "pocket of fluid" has been punctured, the meds may work to finish clearing things up, so I may not have to go have more fluid removed. That's what we're all hoping, anyway.

In the meantime, Dh has been hard at work on my coop. It's not going to be much longer, and I will be able to bring my chickens here.

The chicks are a week old and went from 250 to 100 W bulb today. They're growing fast. The wry neck appears to be resolved.

Yea!!! on the chickies growing well and the wry neck solved!

The doctors released me tonight. YAY! It was decided that I'm improving nicely, and I could continue the same medications at home. They (doctors) are mostly waiting on the results from the cultures, which take time, to know anything more for sure. If I continue as I have been, I don't need to spend the time in the hospital for Christmas. If for any reason things change, I can always be re-admitted.

I'm tired now, so I'm going to rest.
Great news! So glad it looks like you are on the mend finally and able to spend Christmas at home. That's always the best place to rest and heal. Emphesis on rest here! Try not to overdo and take care of yourself. We need all our BYC friends safely snuggled in their nests for the holidays

Glad you are back home. Rest well and heal quickly. Halloween is over, so please ditch the maple-tree-with-tap costume.
Hope you don't have to undergo that ickiness again!
