The Old Folks Home

Greetings from me at the hospital.  I came in through emergency, and they admitted me last night.  When they did the chest x-ray, the tech said "oh my".  I said that didn't sound good, and she said it wasn't.  2/3rds, or more of my left lung was filled with fluid.

Today they used a needle, and drained 1.5 liters of fluid from my lung.  There is more fluid, but they can only drain so much at a time.  It's not a fun procedure at all.

I should know more about everything tomorrow, as quite a few of the test results will be back in, and should reveal more about both what I'm dealing with, and how to treat it.
[/quotezOh my! Catching up. Hoping I see good news on a few posts!

The doctors released me tonight.  YAY!  It was decided that I'm improving nicely, and I could continue the same medications at home.  They (doctors) are mostly waiting on the results from the cultures, which take time, to know anything more for sure.  If I continue as I have been, I don't need to spend the time in the hospital for Christmas.  If for any reason things change, I can always be re-admitted.

I'm tired now, so I'm going to rest.
Yaay! Glad you are home!!

Good morning everyone. Today it will be in the mid 50's but Christmas Eve and day in will be in the mid 70's! First time in a century for these temps for both days! :)
Loving it!

who knew that Alaskan could wax poetic while addressing HIMself(?) as Al

I noticed that as well. Though I believe you would have to say "while addressing him/her self" given the desire to be gender neutral.

Christmas was like that when I was growing up in So. Cal. Saw hail once at the house, when I was home on college break. It was the second time in my mother's life she had seen hail in So. Cal. Other than when they were in Baltimore when my Dad was in the service for 2 years, she never lived anywhere more distant than 40 miles from where she grew up. My wife is somewhat similar. 80 miles from Stowe to Dartmouth for college, 46 miles to the house we live in now.

But I've been in Vermont for 37 years and now if there is no snow at Christmas, it is just WRONG!

So you're in that too? Here it is a weather "statement" not a warning yet because they're still guessing where it will be tracking...lol.

I normally do the turkey/stuffing/gravy etc and we haul everything 45 minutes away to where the family meets at a relatives house.
This year we're travelling 2 hours to meet family this time so I've been busy researching how to transport everything safely but still have it hot and ready when we get there.

A banquet room's been rented by the family but there's no oven or cooktop to use.

There is a microwave in my brother's hotel room. I think I've figured out that I'm preparing everything tomorrow, reheating for the next days travel. Otherwise everything will be late...(I'm usually late anyway but I'm sure snowing and blowing conditions won't help) Should. Be. Interesting.

Yesterday they were predicting between 1-2 feet of snow for the day we're supposed to be travelling. Today the forecast looks better but that usually seems to be what they do...but then the worst still happens and everyone's caught off guard. At least if we can't get there we have the meal?

You need some of those oven bags the pizza delivery people use to keep the pizza hot or something similar.
