I know the feeling. I have an old toastmaster waffle maker. I've had it for almost 8 years and picked it up second hand at an auction so no doubt it's been around the block a few times. What do they call them? Vintage? We had it adjusted just right so it would make the waffles golden brown in less than 4 minutes flat. I didn't do much more than wipe it off to make sure there were no spills on it and put it away till it's next use.....until this morning. Plugged it in, nothing. No heat.

DH is going to look at it but I fear it's time to give it a decent burial. The good news is they have the same model on Fleabay! Yay!

Mary,I sympathize with you picking up sticks. I have one enormous Sycamore tree in the too small backyard. After the several days of high winds - loads of branches came down - not sticks though more like" witch broom "logs . Weirdest branches start in one direction, then 45 degree turn, then another upright.

Glad I wasn't standing under the tree when those came down.

PEOPLE save yourself. NEVER BUY a Sycamore tree. Mine was just a whip from K-mart circa 1973. Tag never hinted that it could grow to 70 ft.tall and plenty wide.

they grow wild here and I love em..... but they are not for yards for sure.... the main reason... they spit sap and it takes tar remover to get it off your car.

But they make good tree house treees and the wood ducks love nesting in the holes in he branches.

Fleabay is what we call Ebay in our household. Kinda like an on line flea market. Harbor Freight is China Freight since just about everything they sell is made there.

With it just DH and me, it's hard to bake. I managed to pick up two small ceramic pans at Dollar General that are just the right size for a pie for two. My favorite bread recipe makes three loaves so we are gorged on bread by the time we toss the last of it to the chickens. Cookies never last very long around here so I don't make them other than special occasions and holidays as we are both watching our weight and if I make cookies, we just watch it go up. If I make a cake, I do a two layer and freeze a layer, cut the other layer in half and make a mini layer.

While I'm a person who eats to live, I have to admit that I love to bake deserts and bread. I could definitely live to eat them!

Yes Microchick, I love desserts (no surprise there) and love, love bread, with or without butter. I went through a loaf of pumpernickel that was on sale. I bought some turkey breast from the deli to go with it. Turkey ran out long before the bread. PS also had a small loaf of Irish soda bread for dessert. I WAS meant to be a much taller person.

I learned how to make yeast rolls last winter. I can do without a lot of things, but bread ain't one of them.

Scg your blocks are very pretty.

Micro you could also look up the RGGS system. You can grow food in pots with net cups in the bottom that sit in a pvc pipe with an auto float to keep the water at a 2" level. They flourish thru the heat. Nearly no care required and you can do them on cinder blocks for a raised height for care.
There are lot's of videos on youtube for the RGGS system.

I have not been on BYC much have not been well. Just had 3 stints put in and another unblocked a week ago Friday. I am still not up to par.
But feeling much better.

I was doing some sewing and making a few gifts for my grands.


My sewing machine broke down and I had to put it in the shop the day I went in the hospital and just got it back Friday.
It works like new again.

Diva I feel for y'all picking up sticks. Dh and I spend at least half a day picking them up to cut grass weekly. I wish there was an easier way to get the job done!

Hey Deb I feel for you trying to get the hay out of the pallets! I had to fight that every week when I had my breeder pens full.
I did buy a small three pronged yard tool that helped. Kind of like a small rake and it fit into the pallets a bit easier.
Good thing your found a better solution.
