The Old Folks Home

I'm not a happy camper.  The wire I ordered from Amazon was supposedly sent on the 6th., and scheduled to arrive on Friday the 10th, as per an email they sent me.  It didn't come.  They sent a new arrival date, the 15th.  I checked the UPS website, using the tracking number, and it says the label was printed, but the wire was never picked up, or taken to them to be delivered.  I wanted to get everything done before starting my chemo.  That's not going to happen.

maddysmaw, the cinnamon rolls look delicious!  I like to put the icing, and sprinkle chopped pecans on top.  For the icing, I use powdered sugar, and a few drops of milk, until it's the right thickness.

chicka, I love both of those aprons, especially the purple one, since purple is my favorite color.

Did you get after the wire people? Tell them to post it already?!?!? :rant

I ordered something from Amazon...it arrived in Washington state on Monday. No new tracking data since that time. :somad

Thanks clue. I will keep you in my prayers.
I don't know why some sellers on some sites like Amazon say one thing and do another. As in two week delays in shipping.

Alaskan all I can say is wow!

weather is causing major screw ups with USPS shipping. Can only assume it might be affecting UPS ground as well, but I doubt as severely.

Well, no TSC roadtrip today after all. Finally got an answer and found out the chicks aren't vaccinated. Since I'm functioning as a closed flock after the Marek's outbreak 2 years ago nearly wiping me out I have no choice but only bring in vaccinated chicks. Did find out where TSC contracts their chicks from but I had never heard of them. Hoovers Hatchery out of Iowa.
Oh well, A much more expensive plan B. I swore i would never mailorder again after last year's nightmare but looks like I have no choice. Oh well, back to Cackle Hatchery. At least I know for certain that they care about how they ship their chicks and would never not add a heatpak and double box when shipping to any northern address before June.

Morning Chicka!!! Thank you for asking about my health

You might remember I entered a clinical trial for whether or not certain CML patients can retain their remission if they stop taking the oral chemo drugs. Well, I had my 1 yr check up (even tho I am checked every 3 months this was a big one) with my onc last week and he called me his MIRACLE patient! Now, if I can only get the weight gain under control!!!

Keep up the good work. Now if you can find a way to get the weight gain under control, please pass it on to all of us!

Wickedchicken6 are those 4" ID PVC pipes? Very cool but I'd be afraid that once our Missouri summer heat kicked in I'd be pumping water into them and still watching whatever I planted in it wilt to dust.

I was surprised to see that my garlic is up and I'm wondering if I should cover it back up tonight since they are calling for a hard freeze here with temps down to the mid teens. My asparagus hasn't started to sprout yet but my pineberries are up so I guess I'd better throw some straw and a tarp over everything.

Gaaaa I hate these brief returns to winter.

I'm seriously thinking about moving my pineberries (pineapple flavored strawberries) to the above the ground swimming pool planter this spring. I have to start developing short cuts to gardening so my back stays on the half way friendly side with me.
I think it looks like the 4" PVC pipes. I think they'd need holes drilled so they wouldn't flood in a rainstorm and definitely the same here...I'm sure they'd get dry. I like the looks bit I don't know if I'd go that heavy duty.I was thinking soaker of a soaker type hose setup with quick adapt couplers so I could turn it on and continue with chores and such and then turn it off before I'm heading for the field. But maybe the RGGS system chickadoodles mentioned might be better? I haven't looked into that yet...lol.

Penny I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers are with you.

Scg your blocks are very pretty.

Micro you could also look up the RGGS system. You can grow food in pots with net cups in the bottom that sit in a pvc pipe with an auto float to keep the water at a 2" level. They flourish thru the heat. Nearly no care required and you can do them on cinder blocks for a raised height for care.
There are lot's of videos on youtube for the RGGS system.

I have not been on BYC much have not been well. Just had 3 stints put in and another unblocked a week ago Friday. I am still not up to par.
But feeling much better.

I was doing some sewing and making a few gifts for my grands.

My sewing machine broke down and I had to put it in the shop the day I went in the hospital and just got it back Friday.
It works like new again.

Diva I feel for y'all picking up sticks. Dh and I spend at least half a day picking them up to cut grass weekly. I wish there was an easier way to get the job done!

Hey Deb I feel for you trying to get the hay out of the pallets! I had to fight that every week when I had my breeder pens full.
I did buy a small three pronged yard tool that helped. Kind of like a small rake and it fit into the pallets a bit easier.
Good thing your found a better solution.
Oh no...stints. Serious stuff. Glad you are on the mend.

Will have to look into that RGGS system to see what it's about.

Hope no one gets a storm. We're just warming up from frigid temps that got down to -29C. I was taking pics of the chickies for another thread and loaded the pics of our storm last week. Ugh...glad that's done. First pic's me in my truck facing west on the road next to our house. I can't even see the farm or office to the left of the road. Second pic is part of our yard and me waiting for a chance to open the truck door to run to the house.
