The Old Folks Home

Hummmmmmmm

I am having to work on a pair of kids (goat babies)

Blasted weather...having issues keeping them warm, and bonded to mom, and eating.

Hummmmm

My shirt is now wet with baby goat pee.

Having the kids take them out again for another feeding from mom.....

We set up a warming box with heating pads...hoping this works.

Morning Chicka!!! Thank you for asking about my health

You might remember I entered a clinical trial for whether or not certain CML patients can retain their remission if they stop taking the oral chemo drugs. Well, I had my 1 yr check up (even tho I am checked every 3 months this was a big one) with my onc last week and he called me his MIRACLE patient! Now, if I can only get the weight gain under control!!!

YAY!!!!

awww when were they born? my cousin used to use a water tub on its side piled with hay You could do something like that with the heating pads....

They were born last night.

:yesss:

Mom is still happy with them (I was worried since we had taken them inside to warm them up and she is a first time mom)

AND when taken out they both nursed on their own like champs!! Even the smaller one.

Also, they are maintaining their body temperatures....so, that is good too.

Kids are playing outside and checking on them every 30 minutes.

I can't tell you how happy I am with mom. She is perfect! (Never know with the first timers)

You might consider sweaters Like childrens sweatshirts Judicously modified so they dont piddle on them if you have a boy. zip ties along the back to snug em up while they are little.

Exactly what I tried to do.... and failed at.

I was sure that we would have toddler vests somewhere...nope.....

Did find toddler sleep shirts .... cut them to fit, but couldn't figure out how to cinch them up... I was worried that if I duct taped them closed it might squeeze their middles too much...

Dunno.....

Still not sure why I couldn't find any vests.... :hu

But the heating pads are working....so far so good.

So glad your wire made it! So sorry now it's raining. Maybe "someone" is trying to tell you to just take it easy, huh?

Glad your babies are doing much better! You didn't say if they are bucklings or doelings.

Totally agree on the sweater/sweatshirt thing. there is a goat lady that literally cleans out the thrift shop of "kid" sweaters this time every year.

when using Tshirts, cut the bottom "hem" off and use it as a belt to hold things on. It's stretchy enough to give a little if needed.
