The Old Folks Home

My pickup truck is a 4 speed with granny, so you only use 3 gears. Actually, we only really use 2 of them, the synchronizer is wearing out, so it won't stay in 3rd if you let off the gas, so we pretty much start in 2nd, shift to 3rd, leave it there about 10 seconds to build a little more speed, and then into 4th.

Now, that truck is a beast... it's only a F-150, but it's an '85 step side painted flat black, looks awesome driving through over a foot of snow...

Love the older truck!! They were trucks not like the ones today that are luxury cars with a bed! I had an old 70 dodge you put it in first gear and it would try to pull a mountain away or dig itself under the ground trying never have seen any newer trucks out do what the older trucks could do

I have had many miles with Cummings, Detroit, Cat and sorry to say Volvo Cummings was the go to motor years ago and so was cat but detroits 60 series engine was great overall for fuel and power loved motors with 650 horse that went over 7 miles per gallon pulling 80,000 lbs up and down the road!

I saw a hot rod magazine a few yrs ago that caught my attention. Ford mustang 650hp 35mpg !!?? They had somehow stuffed a Cummings turbo diesel into it.
I looked on the computer that night checking more into it and found a website 'Fordcummings.com' that specializes in kits to drop 6 cylinder Cummings turbos into the old 70s era Ford trucks. Taking trucks that got 6-10mpg and getting over 20+ with that diesel and tons more torque.
