I do have a dishwasher that I run about every third day. Since it is hooked up to cold water only I do pre-rinse and wash pots and pans by hand. It still saves me time every day. I usually keep a gallon kettle of hot water on the stove and dump it in the machine before it starts. So far the dishes come out 99.9 percent clean.

I hate soaking pots and pans.Usually I fall back on my kettle of hot water and the minute I dump the food from the pan I fill it with hot water. By the time the meal is over the pan or skillet is ready to wash.

Plus I have the pre-wash cycle on the washer which is our 4 dogs. To counter the doggy smoots I add about a third of a cup of bleach to the washer. Everything comes out sparkling clean and sanitized.

I LOVE my pre wash cycle.

When we lived at the apartment, we had a dishwasher that the dishes would come out dirtier than when they went in. I don't know what the former renter did to it, but they ruined it. When we moved from there, and rented the house, the dishwasher didn't work. I went to the used appliance store, and got an older, but very good dishwasher for very little money. Fortunately, this house came with a newer, very nice dishwasher. There are still a surprising number of things I wash by hand though.

Hubby and I used to have a deal - I fixed dinner, and he cleaned up after. When we had this house built, he told the builder to forget the dishwasher - he saw no point. So, we don't have one. But these days, he often literally can't stand to stand when he gets home in the evening, so guess who does the dishes, too? But there is one good thing about it - now dishes are almost always put away in the right cabinet!

I have also filled a pot with soapy water and set it on the stove to "simmer"..... works great.

We've got 25 years worth of projects (aka now junk) at our own yard and 100+ years worth of accumulation here at the farm yard.

I don't even have a front step. Still waiting.....................you get the picture. I also have mud to burn!

I have a folder of pictures for inspiration. I thought by the time I was 45 that my place would look like this.




It looks more like this. Ok the first pic makes me feel better.
The second one is pretty accurate although I'd never use file boxes. Mice like those.

I once grew...ok forgot...potatoes in our bottom basement and they grew their own little potatoes right in the bag. I thought that was cool.

We have been known to utilize paper plates. Very handy. We may have used plastic utensils as well on occasion. The dishwasher at home is amazing. The dishwasher in this house doesn't fill properly so it requires babysitting. I keep a clean milk jug handy at all times specifically for this occasion. You usually know I'm doing dishes because that's when I'm on here. (Except for today...waiting for med activation)

You have that too?? I even labeled the fridge and the pantry and all the dishes have their specific spot but they never make it back there. Drives me bonkers.

My arm? I'm currently looking on Amazon for an upgraded bionic version

I JUST got done dusting the hens. AND I dusted the guineas although I saw nothing on them. What a rodeo. The one guinea broke my fishing net (how am I going to fish??) and it wrenched my arm...again. I couldn't click the mouse when I sat down...but I can click it now.

Hope your arm gets better...but it sounds like you are wrenching it EVERY day. Maybe strap it down? To force yourself to let it heal? Hum?

Looks like my BIL's place DW sold him when we moved. If it was a single wide trailer.
DW's sisters husband, other BIL, lives across from him. He gives me the finger and calls me bad names every time I see him, its his traditional greeting for me since we moved (all in good fun of course) Wasn't my idea to sell him the place. I was going to sell the trailer and bury the pad and only pay taxes on bare land and use it to park a camper in the future when we retire and move south. Beautiful mountain top valley view. Well used to be nice up there also.
Ohh well.

(It makes my house look clean as well....lol) I felt SO much better seeing that pic.

Not every day...every 4-5 days, JUST when it's getting better.

And Amazon has none in stock.

Someone here suggested a sling. Only thing is...I have chicks coming asap.The hatching location isn't ready...yet. The brooder has bunnies in it. The bunnies can at least go in the pens. The building still has roosters in it. That building is used for machinery/tractors. The building where the hens go isn't ready. The building where the roosters are to go isn't ready yet either. And I've got to sell some roosters. I think I may have a few too many. Maybe. Just one. Or maybe two. Maybe 15-20 gone and it may be manageable. The excess roosters need to be moved to the pens. And I need more nest boxes. And I need my arm for that. I still want to dust all the roos because everyone has to be superbly clean going to new buildings. I also still have to do taxes...but I think that's when my arm will get better.

I may be feeling....tense.
