 now that Black Elk in Anchorage is closed, where are people buying their supplies and leather for moccasin making? Have a transplant down here who used to order from them and was dismayed to find they're closed. Furs and leather here are expensive.

Got any ideas?

Ls your goats are so cute!

Dh and I wore ourselves out moving the RR ties and mixing all the ing. in our soil for the grow bags to go in the wicking bed garden.
We had to go to town to get more bags a roll of 6 ml. plastic lining for the garden bed. And had to get a wood drill bit with an extension to drill thru the RR tie.
We got the hole drilled for the float to keep the water level at 1 1/2" for the bags to sit in.
Still have to put the liner in and add the water and grow bags and plant the seeds. I did get some tomatoes plants planted.

Used boxes line the bed for the liner to stay smooth.

This is the float that will keep the water at the 1 1/2" level.

That is HORRID!

One of my kids picked up chocolate peanut butter ice cream a while back... could not eat more than a tiny bite without cringing.

Nasty stuff. Kind of funny too, because I actually like the peanut butter cups.

Also, that nasty ice cream is clearly why the pasta got messed up.

Eating nasty food always addles the brain.

The human kids, yesterday, tried to milk her again, they got two full great squirts/streams of milk, and then the goat kids yelled, so mom yelled, and sucked her milk right back up!!! I had heard that they can do that...but wild. Udder went empty and flat, just like that.

Not sure how you do all of the services unless you take the week off.

One of the "working stiffs" in the parish worked last weekend, so he could get Thursday and Friday off. He did make it to evening services...those start at 6.

Many just make the evening ones. But tourist season hasn't yet started here, we have lots of seasonal workers....and they are only doing prep work now...so more flexible.

My kids homeschool...so they just took off one week.

That actually makes sense that you'd have the week off. Don't know why I didn't think of that.

I know it's not the same but what about rabbit hides? I am on a FB rabbit for meat thead and some of the people tan and sell the hides.

I think she'd do that. She was looking up here but was put off at the prices for hides. She's also looking for beading. Where would she look for the hides on this group?

Alaskan - thank you very much for you response. I knew I could count on you. I also appreciate the remarks on the goat mama, being able to retract her milk. That is really something, . Who knew?

I didn't know a goat could retract her milk either. I do seem to be getting smarter in my old age. LOL

I also had no clue that goats could do that! Wow! I guess it's their way of making sure their young get to eat.

We had a couple of bulls that were 2+ yrs. old and would steal milk from the cow's that were nursing calf's making the calf's not get enough to eat. We got rid of them pretty quick.

Wickedchicken6 glad to hear that the arm is getting better. Did you by chance injure the brachial nerve? I did that once target practicing with an antique rifle that had a lot of kick to it.The symptoms sound a lot like what you are experiencing. It seemed like it took it about 8 weeks to heal and settle down.

I went out yesterday to let the chickens out and did my usual check for new burrows around the coop and run. None! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I nipped the problem before it had a chance to escalate. Now I have to figure out where I can set a Tom Cat bait station to keep history from repeating itself. I had the funniest thing happen yesterday. I was out working on the garden and setting T-posts so I could put up a low fence to keep the dogs off the soil. I had the post pounder in the 'porch' area of my coop leaning against a wall, open end up and when I turned it to flip it over the end of the post, a half a cup of sunflower seeds poured out of it.They were all nicely hulled. Since I feed my birds sunflower seeds to add fat to their diet in the winter, I can only think that some mouse has been VERY busy out there. And I wiped out it's diligent work in a few seconds........sweet.

I let my baby OEGBs out for the first time yesterday. What fun! They are in a pen with two bachelor Welsummer roosters and those boys took to those babies instantly. They were so good with them to the point that they wound up sleeping with them last night. Such good daddy birds.

We have both gray and brown squirrels around us and for years had a problem with them coming up on our back porch and chewing on our oak steps. I finally managed to get the main perpetrator in my .17 sights and took him out then put metal stripping on the edge of the steps where they had rounded off the wood from their chewing. We have a lot of squirrels so I'm hoping the owls and hawks take some of them out this spring when they have babies to feed.

I had to look up brachial nerve to be certain I was on the same page. The majority of the pain is in the vicinity of my elbow and that radiates to my hand and fingers, but there is some pain from the shoulder to elbow as well. It's hard to know if it's new pain from my shoulders...they pop out and I have pain there regardless. In the words of Lady Gaga...I was born this way...lol. My shoulders have always popped out if I wanted...but now they do it on their own, with pain. My doctor just about fell over when I showed him.

. Not really desirable. I blame it on growing too fast. Snap, crackle pop is correct...lol. Here we call it lock'n and pop'n. Like I could ever break dance.

Appendages would be flying everywhere!

Back to the arm, if I hold out my arm, hand flat, palm down it's the top and bottom of the elbow where the pain seems to start. It hasn't gotten better since I last wrote. And I've been very good.

The only thing I can think of that I did was having to use my shoulder to "break in" through the door and then slam the door incredibly hard because of the shifting with spring. Now the door is fine, I can close it with one finger.

Raising chicks with roodies. Interesting! I tried to amalgamate the 3 Silkies + chicks last year with the 1 oegb and her chicks. All H broke loose.
