The Old Folks Home

For those who take naproxen....is it better than say, Robax platinum...which is Ibuprofen and Methocarbamol? I'm curious. :) I try to take the least amount I can get by with...which is still take more than I'd like to be taking.

My thoughts are; the ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation around the nerves in the spine and the methocarbamol to relax the muscles from the lower back down to my toes since the muscles are always tight and bunched because they're not getting the correct messages from the nerves. What does Naproxen do?
naproxen is good for what you are doing as an over the counter NSAID. I was taking a better one, sulindac aka clinoril. sulindac is a big time arthritis anti inflammatory. You take one pill twice a day and after it is working, you lower the dosage. I often took half a pill.

A good productive day. Those are nice!:yesss: How's the chicks?

I will get photo's of all today to post the chicks are adorable with 7 they where all bundled together last night in the brooder. I am bound to have some cockerels raise them awhile

@chickadoodles I am so sorry to hear that your daughter's life is so full of pain and fear that she thinks trying to end it is the answer. I pray that she recovers, and that she finds courage and most particularly joy and purpose for her life.:hugs

Thank you I have been praying for the same thing for her.

Long day, trying to finish garden. We've been getting too much rain, hard to do anything. Just put in Before dark four 50' rows of dry beans, kidney, white navy, black, and pinto. Grew them last yr but in the corn, didn't do so good cause apparently they are bush beans lol, need pole type for three sisters style garden, got a lot but way many rotted last yr. Trying few new things, have brussel sprouts going and okra, haven't ever tried them before. Garden keeps getting bigger and bigger, and still doesn't seem big enough.

Naproxin is an NSAID... It reduces inflamation.... SGC may be able to explain this better.

I take Alieve (naproxin) in the morning and Tylenol when I am in worse pain. You can take the two together because they do different things and effect different parts of your body.

Motrin or Ibuprophin are also NSAIDs they just work a little lower key. you have to take more of it throughout the day.

YOu can take as many as three Alieve in the day spaced out. They last twelve houirs. And Tylenol according to the directions. I had an ER nurse tell me this when I was in terrible pain from a case of Trench mouth.

deb "Whos up to take more Nyquil and some extra Tylenol. Dang cold."
Ok. Anti-inflammatory. Check. Works longer than some other NSAIDS. Also check. I'm liking the way this is sounding.

I'm one who doesn't do great on both Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Actually, scratch that. I do WAY too well on taking them both...:lau I did that once when I ran out of the one type and took the other when I first had the back thing. Wow is all I can say.

When I blew my back out yrs ago, sciatic nerve, I never went to a doc. I was taking 1200mg acetaminophen or ibuprofen sometimes every four hrs when i was at my worst, couldn't even stand up. I don't like taking any drugs and knew it wasn't good. Those two knocked the pain out but for only about four hrs, I'd even wake up at night and take them.
When I tried naproxen sodium (aleve) it did not take the pain completely away like the others, but it dulled it down to a comfortable level. And best part, only one in the morning and one at night. Just like the commercial says 'one a day lasts all day' think the stuff probably saved my liber
That was around 15yrs ago and was months of hell. Have not had any troubles with my back ever again.
Oh wow. That's a strong dose of drugs. I was the opposite; I could lay down or stand up (albeit shakily) I couldn't sit down for an entire month plus 2 days...lol. How embarrassing to eat in a restaurant standing up... gig.gif
That's fantastic you haven't had any more troubles with your back!:clap This stuff is sounding like a good tool for those long days.

I'm going to seek this stuff out. The doctor prescribed drugs at the time, although not what you were taking. You don't take the sulindac anymore?

Very well said.

That is a lovely piece! They are so sweet...lol.

There was a man who lived in the next closest town. He passed away at 104 (I believe it was.) I was shocked when I heard that, I didn't realize he was that age.

He was still driving, had all his faculties and a crystal clear mind. He lived in his own place. He would give the older ladies 80s-90s a ride when they needed to go to the doctor or uptown to help them out. He drove right up until he passed. He was a really nice man and he'd always struck up conversation if we were visited the restaurant at coffee time...lol.
