They don't hurt, don't even know their there till you see them. Though kinda freaky, and flashbacks of that poor kid on 'Stand by me'

Growing up we used to go to a big forty acre pond my grandmother's brother owned in the middle of his farm, no houses or roads in sight, it was nice. They built a pavilion with picnic tables (back in the 50s) and held a family reunion there every yr, way back before my time oxroast parties.
In the 80s my parents would camp there the day before and me and dad would spend a whole day with push mowers mowing the parking spot area and some by the pond, lots of fun....
Tons of kids, cousins, would all fish and swim, had a floating dock built on plastic barrels to take us out into deeper water cause the edge was deep mud though some of us younger kids would swim from shore, the bigger kids went out on the dock and if you went with them you would be stuck out there for hrs if you couldn't swim back to shore.
If you swam from shore usually had a few leeches to pick off when you got out lol!
Ain't no way we'd let our kids swim in a pond like that lol.
Can't remember the last time they had a get together there, maybe 20yrs ago, (before I had kids)
most the 'old timers' are gone now.
