There is a cemetery in CA that I read about that does natural burials. You cannot be embalmed, you are buried in a plain pine box with minimal hardware, and the cemetery it's self is rolling hillsides planted in prairie grass and wildflowers. They DO place a tracking device in the box with each body, so if a loved one wants to go visit with the dead, they can go to the "help desk" (whatever they call it) and borrow a tracking device programmed with the correct "plot" and wander out in the meadow looking for a slight low place in the ground. I thought that was pretty neat.
There is a cemetary like that here in Wisconsin. Just really getting going. I love the whole concept. Too bad it's so far away from us. Perfect for the DH. He's not sure about the cremation thing. I keep telling him I want to be fertilizer for my gardens, just mix me in with the chicken poop. I'm serious, he's not buying it.
Over 24 hours later, I hear a chick peeping! (I kept the windows open)! There was the white chick, at the side of the green tractor (green tractor has almost fully grown chicks) asking how to get in.
Still can't believe a bright white chick (and yes, we are still green here...but fading to brown) made it that long!! (we have been 50s in the day, 40s at night).
chicks are back out today.... I think the tractor is now safe.
