The Old Folks Home

I think if i pick up the pace i will drop dead! Feeling weird and extra tired today, even though i slept in. Maybe side effects from the latest antibiotic. Still, i made a feeder. Just needs the small board on the front screwed on. Also started assembling the run for the coop. 20170826_185309.jpg 20170826_185555.jpg

Around last Christmas I had mentioned a toy called Hatchimals. Well, today we celebrated one of my granddaughter's birthdays, and I got her one. My oldest granddaughter informed me she wants one too. This evening, we hatched it out. It's the cutest danged thing! Now, I want one of my own. I wonder if I can get a bulk discount. :D

Went into town this morning. On the way I could see the late season wildflowers on display along the roadside and up the hill. The purples of the wild bergamot (beebalm) and asters, the rich colors of the Black Eyed Susans and the bright Goldenrod. I could also see the deep fire red of the Sumac, the beginnings of the draining green from the leaves and the first yellows showing on the Popple trees. We had our first real frost two nights ago. I guess Mother Nature was letting me know it's time for me to pick up the pace a bit if we are going to be ready for winter.

Is that your country lane? It's pretty.

Went canoeing today with husband and Mini. It was pleasant out there! We saw quite a bit of a kingfisher.View attachment 1121724
Kingfishers are great birds. Fun to watch too.

I know news shows like to present the worst but, all that flooding looks real enough to me.

I think @Latestarter is right. The pictures are real, but they go out of their way to find the worst possible spot, and that take the pictures so it looks way bigger and worse than it is.

My sister is supposed to be getting over 20 inches....she has had 2.

Anyone know how to get a rotten potato stain out of an old buffet table? :he I've tried a little bleach cleaner, but its pulling off what little wood stain is left on the old girl.
talk to an antique furniture repair guy... The bleach cant be good.

My mom restored an old piano and she knew how to get separated veneer to flatten out and reattach. I think she talked to several people who offered advice for free.

And there is always YouTube.

Yep. that's the lane that runs between our small field and our woods and floodplain to the creek that flows thru the north corner of our "back forty".
Chicki, that "country lane" on your property is simply lovely! I can just imagine deer wandering out of the woods and across it into the fields, and all sorts of other animals being around. I'm amazed that there's that much color already and it isn't even September yet!
