Oh thank you! :bowThat looks like exactly what I need!

Went into town this morning. On the way I could see the late season wildflowers on display along the roadside and up the hill. The purples of the wild bergamot (beebalm) and asters, the rich colors of the Black Eyed Susans and the bright Goldenrod. I could also see the deep fire red of the changing Sumac, the beginnings of the dark green draining from the leaves and the first yellows showing on the Popple trees. We had our first real frost two nights ago. I guess Mother Nature was letting me know it's time for me to pick up the pace a bit if we are going to be ready for winter.

I'm jealous!

I think if i pick up the pace i will drop dead! Feeling weird and extra tired today, even though i slept in. Maybe side effects from the latest antibiotic. Still, i made a feeder. Just needs the small board on the front screwed on. Also started assembling the run for the coop.View attachment 1121962View attachment 1121963

I know you're crunched for time Cap, but you've got to take it easy. Feeling weird is your body sending you warning signals. If you wear yourself out, you'll be even farther behind. :hugs

Around last Christmas I had mentioned a toy called Hatchimals. Well, today we celebrated one of my granddaughter's birthdays, and I got her one. My oldest granddaughter informed me she wants one too. This evening, we hatched it out. It's the cutest danged thing! Now, I want one of my own. I wonder if I can get a bulk discount. :D

:thumbsup I've GOT to look those up!

see and here we are no near close to the colour here

Don't feel bad penny, we wont get any color at all down here. :hit

One of our little girls spilled nail polish on our kitchen table. If that wasn't bad enough she cleaned it up herself. What do you clean up nail polish with? Nail polish remover of course. Which took the varnish right off.
And I was the one that got in trouble!?
Mom was at work and guess I was supposed to be watching them?

Been there done that with my girls too. My table feels your tables pain.

Honey harvested. The wax is still draining, and will be rendered maybe next weekend. It was gorgeous capped frames - almost no pollen - and a ton of it. I usually get about 0.8 gallons, this year I got pretty much dead on 2 gallons. From one hive. The other hive is struggling, they never even made comb in their super.

I know nothing about bees, but am fascinated with them. Question; How can 2 hives on the same property, with the same pollen sources produce differently?

Very nice...too cheerful for me...but mentally balanced types will probably love them. :lau

So...the little square next to both cases? Is that the second case folded neatly?

HAHAHA yes that's a nicely folded mate to the one that's laid out. That's how I was taught to fold them for gifting. Mind you that nonsense doesn't happen at any other time, just when gifting. And you should see how I "fold" (that term should be used very loosely) a fitted sheet, if you need to feel better about yourself.

I have some wicked halloween prints that I'll be making into pillowcases (I think) for my bed. Those may be more to your liking. And Diva has great taste.

I'm not a bee expert, just had them a few years, and the honey depends on what is available at the moment for them to visit and when you take the honey. If they make and cap honey earlier in the season, it is usually lighter, more delicate. Later honey is darker, stronger. Different plants give different tastes and some bees prefer some flowers over others. Depends on how much pollen is also in the honey. I have 2 hives next to each other, that got the same treatment, pretty much exact except one hive started with one box that was already drawn comb and the other bees had to draw their own comb. Well, that delays laying of the queen (no where to lay) which reduces overall growth up front. The second hive had no honey for me to take. Right next door. If our season was longer, they'd make honey in the box I can take, and it would be the darker, stronger, honey, since the lighter stuff would be in their boxes.
