The Old Folks Home

When I was diagnosed with white coat high blood pressure, The Physicians assistant had me sit in a darkened room. It took an hour to get blood pressure to normal.

My Dentist does a BP test once a year too and it is high there.
I'm very fortunate...I think for the most part my bp does not get affected by the doctor visit...maybe only for the yearly physical.:lau That's nerve wracking at the best of times because I usually start laughing...lol. My last 3 doctors were very cool and they just shake their head..lol. Regular doc visits are usually fine...although now that we have no doctor, the walk in lady doc we saw could possibly raise my bp. I didn't like her so much. hmm.png

Your dentist takes a bp test? That's interesting. Mine would be through the roof for that...I'm not so great with dentists. Give me a shot or take 20 blood samples...just don't send my to the dentist. Our dentist passed away and I don't have one. My teeth have been aching because I have cavities....I don't want to go.

How is your A1C level doing?
It was satisfactory the last time I went...which would be almost a year ago. My doctor left late last year...and I've been putting off going to a new one. I finally went to get my diabetes meds...I'm scheduled for an A1C anytime now when I can get in. She wants to know before I go back to get a refill. Probably not going to be satisfactory this time. :th

When I got my glasses, which wasn't long ago..I think I posted on here...he showed me that there were zero changes to my eyes. I do wish to keep it that way. So I wouldn't be surprised if I get a script for more aggressive meds...until I get it my eating down 100%

Funny story. Had a young truck driver, 30, coming in where I work that failed his DOT physical cause of high bp. Was put on meds, didn't bring it down next check. They ordered a FULL physical.
Doctor, a woman checked his bp again and said it was still way too high, he said 'how about I stick my finger in your butt and see how high YOUR bp gets!'
:lau
They eventually got him on something that worked and he kept his cdl.
:lau Yep! Now that's hilarious! Gee 30 is quite young to have high blood pressure. Yikes.

What is it there for requirements for your DOT (I'm assuming that's commercial semi driver?) Is it a physical every 5 years? I have a class 2 which is everything except a semi with air brakes (that's class 1 here) but both have the same requirements; a doctor's physical every 5 years. I received a letter that I'll have to have to go every 3 years now.

Since your vision has not changed, are you going to get lasiks or a kamera insert?

I am considering it. I hate having to wear glasses and since my far vision is fine, it make it hard to see stuff in the car. I should wear the reading glasses but they are not easy to use. I guess bi focals would work.

I had a root canal without effective pain relief. The med would not work because the tooth was infected. They just kept working regardless. And they wonder why i didn't go back!

I've worked with a couple, at first they could probably scare a guy, they are hilariously funny when you get used to them. Have to be careful what you say here at work. Doesn't even have to offend the people that heard it, we've had people disciplined or fired for saying something someone heard from someone that heard it from someone else that works a different shift on a different day.....

Oh gosh, I should have clarified that better. I meant to say that there were no changes to my eyes as far as damaging changes to the capillaries of the eye. He said specifically that if he didn't know I was diabetic he wouldn't know by the pictures he took of my eye. I thought that was very good news.

I did have changes with my eyesight...most notably going from plain vision to requiring progressive lenses. I did need a slightly stronger prescription with my vision as well.

I've had glasses since grade 1 and I'm so used to them that I don't plan on changing from my glasses. Changing to progressives have made a world of difference and I couldn't go back. I can do nail art again.:yesss: I took to them like a duck to water.

I still find myself looking over my glasses to look at chicken butts though.(for mites) I don't know why.
