Morning.
My plans for the weekend? We are supposed to set new heat records so other than trying to keep the critters hydrated, not too much. Had nasty storms rolled thru late pm yesterday ahead of a ridiculous warm front and we are supposed to be in the 90's today!
Did I mention this is northern WI?????
To make things worse it's opening weekend of duck hunting. Our quiet northwoods sounded like WWIII broke out at dawn. We are directly in the path of a major flyway (which is why we have herons, cranes and snowy egrets along with many other birds all spending summers in our neighborhood. I am particularly fond of the snow geese, loons and herons that nest in the floodplain in our back forty every year). We have a lake a mile or so our west that has an enormous marsh at it's north end where the river flows into it and another large marsh the other side of the fields to our south where the creek that flows thru our property merges with the Wolf River. Needless to say our area is a magnet for anyone in the northwoods that happens to enjoy the taste of waterfowl and of course any of their more southern relatives that they have decided to brag to.
So my weekend plans? Trying to hide from the ridiculous heat and dangerous city people with shotguns in little boats.
