The Old Folks Home

I forget bread in the oven, sometimes too. The smoke alarm reminds me.
For bread, I set the timer for 20 minutes and then put the temperature probe into one of the loaves. An alarm goes off when internal temperature reaches 195.

I have not had burnt bread in years!

scg, the information you provided about us mimicking Australia, and being hit by A strain early is exactly what my lung specialist told me, except he's already treated 3 cases of A strain. Flu season is only beginning, so this is a sign of a bad year for the flu.

I've been in charge of the pharmacy part of the flu season for 6 years now. It's my job to send out the needed information about the available vaccines and any pertinent info on the flu to all our hospital and clinic employees and I also field weird questions throughout the season. I feel like the Flu Queen some days.

I got my shot today - regular dose, quadrivalent. I didn't cry, which is a first for me. I had my regular nurse shoot me, but the nurse that's been holding me down the last few years retired in January, so I had to acquire a new nurse holder this time. She got a blanket and used it like a straitjacket and then also hugged me and held me down. IT WORKED GREAT.

Sign them up for next year.

that sounds like a bunch of excitement.

Completely off topic but Wendy's has been advertising their double sized junior bacon cheeseburger and it just looks so good on TV that I decided to head out to get one today. Problem one; the nearest Wendy's is 50 miles away (80% highway). Problem two; no matter how good it looks, it's still a chain burger, and not worth 100 miles driving which equates to ~$20 in gas on top of the burger cost, not to mention ~3 hours time invested. I came to my senses...

So, I needed some groceries and diverted to McDonald's and got their pick 2 for 5 bucks; a big mac & quarter pounder with cheese, followed by grocery shopping virtually next door at wally world. (The Wendy's burger WOULD have been better tasting) All completed in under an hour, maybe $4 in gas, and later I expect I'll have gas... fast food quality is not what it once was, not that it's ever been all that great... But, as they say in the US Navy (referring to Navy chow)... it'll make a turd... :duc:oops::rolleyes:

They ought to make advertising drugs illegal, like they did for advertising cigarettes. For some, food is a drug  Besides, I think the US is one of only a couple of countries that allow pharma advertising to the public. Can you imagine TV without food or Pharma ads? Wow... a 30 minute show might actually be more than 15 minutes long :duc
