You have ducklings!

I think a bunch of us need this today! SCG for getting a flu shot! Escaped Ducks! And New students at work for Me! The Quarter started yesterday and I am already very tired...
yep...!

Pretty exciting about the ducklings. Our two old drakes died last winter. When they died we still had some meat ducks...but the then 8 year old had been taken care of them...and had let their feet freeze... anyway. .. we kept the 2 meat drakes, but they both lost some of their feet. Because of that they did a HORRID job of fertilizing the girls. Poor female ducks kept sitting on bad eggs...all summer long!

Finally those limpy drakes managed... we hatched 6 ducklings, but lost one on Sunday, so now have 5.

4 are with one mom, and 1 is with a different one.

I went and bought 2 perfect little drakes, gorgeous boys...

Muscovy have such great personalities, especially my flock since I cull hard for personality. As a result integrating 2 young partly grown boys, and flock raising the ducklings has gone smoothly.

It can be a lot of work sometimes to get new ones to hatch. It is worth it though since they are from your flock.

I like that you are culling for personality too

hope all is well
Thanks!
It will be fine--The first week of the Fall Quarter is the hardest. It is all down hill from here until the end of Spring Quarter.

And I only have two more of these Starts to Fall quarter until I plan on retiring!

I do hope it is as good as mine turned out to be

DH came inside today and said I'd better get out to the coop there was a hawk circling the run. I went out and sure enough. This guy was HUGE and new in the neighborhood. We still aren't sure what type of hawk it was. Definitely wasn't a red tail but DH speculated it had a 3.5-4 foot wing span.

No worries. The roosters had everyone herded under their shade protection and were screaming their brains out at the hawk. You could see it twisting it's head around just searching for a break in the net and not finding one, moved out. I gave the boys an extra ration of scratch.

Hope you catch that skunk, Penny. Remember. Head shot= no stink. And enjoy that pendant! Still beautiful, Deb!
I haven't found that to be the case with headshots...unfortunately. Done point blank they still release. But being that the traps are outside, it doesn't much matter. :thumbsup

I baited a couple of the large traps with the marshmallows underneath the trap and a cement block on top of it. Hopefully that gets the savvy critter. :fl

And on another subject (which got misplaced when I saw that Penny post above), Wendy's chili... :sick:sick:sick:oops: GAG! IMHO it is nasty... more like pseudo-chili, soup...:duc They crumble up burgers into a pot, add a big package of spices then add boiling water... yuck! I may be (hope I am) wrong as it's been more than a decade since I ordered it because of what I stated above.

Hard to mess up a baked potato though :D
You noticed they put their burgers in the chili..!!!
I argued with DW once, I SAW them, we rarely eat inside, I watched them that morning take the burgers and chop them up and add to the chili pot, DW didn't believe me, said it was all prepackaged just heat it up.... I just watched them do it! Lol.
The Wendy's we go to the chili, very thick, beans/meat/sauce, actually not bad at all. Very good and goes great with the tater.
Their soda sucks though tastes like chlorine :sick
So if we go there we never order soda or any drinks.

Same here! Prayers for you both of course!

Oh, and me and needles? If I had an aversion, I would have been over it long ago because since the spring of 2007 I have needed to have blood tests done at least every three months if all was well. Finally talked my Onc into stretching them out to every four last year. Hoping to talk him into going out to six months when I see him in November :fl
Wicked I hope you dh will be ok.

I made an appt. For the 3rd.
Thank you everyone with the well wishes. I'll keep everyone updated when it happens.

I'm very glad you made an appointment. :hugs I agree with the others...having pain is not the best sign and it's really good you're looking into it.:clap
