The Old Folks Home

I want to see pictures of the chair and coop progress.

I am to the point where I need to bring wood in. I got the goats and ducks cleaned out, also, and Caramel (the goat) could not stop putting her head up my butt and sniffing. Maybe it was the beets.
You have the most fun!:lau Never had a goat do that to me!

I told you all about my cat, that thinks she's a mother hen, and would pull the brooder box all over the house, so she could keep it with her, and keep watch over the chicks. I've always said I never thought she would hurt a chick. Well.....

When I read this, before I even finished your post, the first thought that popped into my cabasa was that the cat was pulling the brooder around with her like a lunch box... :lauGlad that wasn't the case. :clap

Haven't been in here for a while. I'm going in for some shoulder surgery as some of you already know, getting on my desktop for fun for a bit before then. In the meantime, maybe some of you have already seen this ... crazy!

Good to see you again :) Best wishes for a successful surgery! Let us know will you?

I do stuff every day. And for once i did not work on the coop except to rake up leaves and throw them in there. Sat down and watched the chickens for 15 minutes. It was great. Planted plants and pulled weeds and spread mulch. Swept out the garage. Do they have a badge for that?:lau

I'd nominate you for the Adulting Badge, if there were one.

I had the goats (well goat, Caramel again) pull down my (boxer) shorts one hot summer day when I was trying to clean out their house. Caramel also like to take off my hat and ear muffs in the winter (or fall, or spring).

Got the wood brought in, got the dehumidifiers going now (we got 8 inches of rain earlier this week, more coming tomorrow) and BF went to the store and got wood to rebuild our little porchy steps (they're slick and no longer even close to being even and level) so I guess that's what we're doing tomorrow. The CSA was relatively tame this week except for a giant container of kale... usually I feed that to the ducks when we buy it at the store, not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do with it but I might try it in the soup I'm making tomorrow with some other ingredients.

Yesterday and today I have seen Mason and Honey bees slow moving and out in the cold weather. So I asked Dh to make me a couple simple bee houses one for the Mason bees and one for the honey bees. We will hang them under the eves of the shed which is near the garden. These are a couple easy ones that I found.
We are going to drill some holes in a 2x4 for the mason bees and make a simple box with a opening for the other bees. I was wondering if I should use some insulation on them.
It can dip into the teens in the winter here.

This is the idea for the Mason bees we will hang it facing south.

Someone made this for Honey bees and I am hoping a square box will suffice.
What do ya'll think?
