The Old Folks Home

Which explains a great deal as to why far too many of our youth are the way they are.

This generation of people don't think they have to work to get a check.
They feel if they just show up they deserve a check.
They hide in back rooms and closets on their phones all day!
They are suppose to be running a business to earn that check!
They were not taught you must EARN A LIVING!
They should act like adults when they go to work. JMHO
I agree for the most part with everyone.

However I've seen some amazing, young, responsible people in jobs and positions who buck that trend of youth. I've also seen some outstanding students on the bus routes I've driven over the years...so it's not everyone. The boy's friends and classmates are quite the responsible bunch as well...so that's very encouraging. I know there are parents out there doing it right. I always try to make a point of telling these fine young people what a good job they're doing. I've wondered if it's just the small, rural area we come from...but then I've seen some good, young people in the city. I hold out hope.:fl

That is an impressive amount of tomatoes! Looks as though they are supporting the 'canopy' with a framework of sorts.

Very cool but I imagine you have to have a fairly large green house to grow them.

An Amish farm nearby has a large greenhouse that they are growing tomatoes in. They start in March and produce through fall. I can't even seen that greenhouse being large enough to grow those plants.
It also appears to be grown in a hydroponic system. Hmmm. I think I need to look into the exact environmental requirements for this "tree" (it's clearly been trained) Might be a fun project for me.

With this cold weather coming I decided yesterday was the day to dig up the mammoth red mangel beets.
Each coop got a wheelbarrow full of tops and small beets. Filled a half a 55gal barrel in the cellar with just the bigger roots. Guess I exaggerated a little on the football size but some of them still got pretty big.
Give the chickens something to peck at this winter.
Not bad for a $2 package of seed and not thinning them out and not keeping them weeded, the weeds choked them out this summer at one point.
Next yr I'm planting more and taking better care of them, supposed to get up to 20lbs ea.

I've always said that being a moderator is a thankless job that you couldn't pay me enough money to take. A good one knows how to put out brush fires as soon as they break out. Unfortunately there are those who think having an on line persona is a blank check to act like the south end of a north bound mule and those are the ones that drive off good members if not for the swift actions of the mods.

So my thanks to all you moderators out there.

I just got back from town. Couldn't find any shoes I could wear so I wound up wearing my beat up garden clogs and using a cane. Took me twice as long as usual but man, have gray hair and use a cane.....Do you ever get the service! This getting old may have a few positive benefits, LOL!
