The Old Folks Home

Nothing special here either.

DH and I are doing some left over dry wall work in a spare room and I need to finish the taping and compound work so I can get it painted and finished. One room of our shop was a 'paint room' for the previous owner's cabinet shop and there was a window in it that you could never get fully closed along with a big opening for a vent fan. We took the vent out a few years ago and finally gave up on the window and pulled it this summer when we resided the north wall. No more drafts.

We are having to stay pretty close to home due to our dog needing us to help him in and out to do his business. The temps are going to be 58 today so we may try to get a walk in while the weather is nice. They are calling for rain tomorrow so we need to get out and get some fresh air while we can.

Yeah... forecast for rain here later today through tonight. I've been perusing the weather radar and it appears there's a little bit of moisture moving NE through south TX, but there's no visible front lines and it doesn't look all that impressive to me (yet). Everything seems to be way up north near the Canadian border moving across the country. I won't complain... the last time heavy rain was forecast I got less than 1/8th of an inch. It's very dry and I could use some!

Morning all first cup of coffee here we bought the Son a new 32 inch TV with the bells and whistles on it his was old enough his newer blue ray would not work correctly, I ordered it at Wally pick it up today, other than the metal will go on the free chicken tractor roof we have rain back since yesterday but not real harsh rain more like drizzles just enough to make the working out no fun

I guess i need to get myself going and get the critters fed and watered. Looks nice out but still in the 40s.
The aim today is finishing the rabbit cage and move it to the goat shed. And i need to build the water warmers for the chickens. Check with you folks later!

Just a quick shoutout to @Wisher1000 who hasn't been seen round these here parts for ~2 months. Hope that you (she) had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are (is) getting ready for an equally enjoyable Christmas season, which is approaching at the speed of light... altogether too fast by my way of thinking, thank you very much...

Thank you for starting this wonderful online family referred to as "The Old Folks Home". I consider it a privilege to be counted a member of this family. Been a real pleasure getting to "know" all you fine folks. I can't recall a single "black sheep" among this family, which as many of us know and have experienced... any BS in the family is not always a good thing. ;)

OK... sentimental side returned to dead storage in the dark recesses of what's left of my mind. :p

Well said, @Latestarter.

It's dry here also. We haven't had any appreciable rain in over a month and it's starting to show. I was looking at the Farmer's Almanac yesterday and they are calling for a snowy mild winter here. I wish it would snow. I've never much been a fan of a dreary, grey, cold snowless winter. I either want snow or flowers. No shades of gay for me.

Been in the single digits here. It was 8 degrees this morning. We were building inserts in an old mill, so I assumed it wasn't heated. I changed from my longsleeve warm shirt to a T shirt before I left the house, just in case, got a sweatshirt and my heavy coat, plus gloves, a hat, etc. I also wore warm socks. I was glad I had made the switch. Only my feet were terribly sweaty.

It was about 900 degrees in there.

It started at 0800. By 0803 I had tripped over the holders on the floor more than once and was moved to a safer locale, further from stuff on the floor. Then I required band aids after an altercation with an insert. But I was quick and efficient, despite my own self inflicted handicaps.

Then some old guy stole my job (that's what I get for being nice and training someone).

So then I was moved to a more dangerous job that involved open razor blades.

We had plenty of bandaids on hand, so I moved there.

Lastly, I was moved to "deconstruction" to fix or nix the screw ups.

It was fun. The goal for the day was 60 windows done, we had done 47 by the end of the first shift.
