The Old Folks Home

Ls I ordered about 200 chicks a year for several years. It was a pain but we built the pens yo house a bunch of them after they were brooded.
A few times completely sold out and had to order more.
But most of our customers wanted POL pullets and the rest wanted 6-7 month old roosters.
You should have heard Murry when I said I wanted a 50 cockerels.

I don't see how you could make it pay, you would use so much feed.

Phones are just easier (except for the typing with big thumbs) works fast everything in mobile format, usually no ads gumming stuff up. I just have a cheap dollar store tracphone samsung galaxy sky and it works great. Same size as the other galaxy's. Was less than $100, don't remember but probably closer to $40 or DW wouldn't have bought it for me lol, not going to find a laptop with good built in camera for that $.
Awesome games to play at work also lol.
I heard mobile networks are going to come out with 5g in the next yr.

Boost is the company name sprint is the network bought from Nextel like all cell plans or internet you actually always pay for the month ahead no contracts with Boost but pay for phones but they do give long term like me quite a ton off but I have a older phone like samsung myself

Morning everyone.

It's raining here. I'd much rather have rain than snow but they are calling for that and ice later on in the day when the temps drop back to seasonal norm.

Had a busy day yesterday and was away from home most of it. Doctors appointments, shopping. When we get to the closest big (by Missouri standards) city, we always have a list of things to get and stops to make. By the time we get home, get things put away and grab a bite to eat I'm ready for some down time sitting on the sofa staring out into space....where I remember something I wanted to pickup and forgot.:barnie

I have both a desk top and a tablet. I love the tablet. It has a removable keyboard so I can do touch screen or conventional keyboard typing. I use it a lot while laying in bed to read from Kindle without the keyboard but I like being able to sit back on the sofa, relaxe and use it. It operates on Android and I have really come to like that operating system.

As for the desk top. Boy my older eyes love the big screen on the monitor. It operates using Ubuntu. DH totally removed MS from it. Don't miss it at all. DH has it on his desktop mainly because a lot of the grafting and engineering programs he uses for his 3D printer have to have MS to operate.

We hate giving MS more money, it's like, okay, how much do you really need? But sometimes you got to deal so we use it. Our phone is a smart phone. When we were moving we relied on it a lot but now that we are only on the road locally we went to a smaller gig service plan so we can use it sitting in doctors offices or in the car.

It's frightening scary how dependent we are on the Internet. Us oldsters would be able to deal without it easier than the young people would.

Remember that episode of South Park where the Internet did a crash and burn? Unfortunately more fact than fiction to that episode.

I was on my darn phone in my sleep buying this house admit in bed play a couple games on it even log into here so yup guilty too.. have to go back to Costco 300.00 paid Monday did not get coffee beans or Yeast buy it at Costco or 10 of them anywhere else

Well guys, I got behind again and was at Christmas eve with 800+ posts to go, so I just skipped ahead...

I had the fun of trying to catch a pigeon (mine) in the house this morning, little bugger got loose and started fluttering around...

glad you back how ya doing... cats would help catch flying anything real fast

Sol POL hen for 20-25 each.
Chicks at 5
Roosters 8-10
We went through 5 bags of feed per week for 5 months.
I didn't make much on the chickens but the turkey made up for it.
If my health would not have got so bad I would not have quit though.

I'm doing good, went to Maryland and to the Maryland side of Assateague island right after Christmas, found several wild ponies... The first pony we found was a skeleton! Literally, he was an 18 year old stallion that was hit by a car almost 3 months prior. I saw that same stallion last year when we went and have photos of him from then.

The basement cats would certainly help... they aren't invited anywhere near the bird... The upstairs cat is actually afraid of him and won't go near him when I have him out. The sounds of him flapping gets her interest, but when she actually sees him she keeps her distance.

Good to hear from you @Kusanar! That must have been very hard to see that stallion in such bad condition. I would have wanted to adopt him and bring him home.

Well, our respite from winter is over along with our January thaw. It got to 53 yesterday. When I got up this morning it was 47 at 7AM. By the time I got in from taking care of the birds, the temp was down to 31. DH watched it drop from 47 to 31 in less than 30 minutes. Now it's 26 and everything is freezing solid. Great. Time to dig out the studded boots again.

Close the drapes, put out the lights. Lots easier to catch in the dark.
