It's down to 12 here, @chickadoodles. Started the day at 51. I'm so depressed by the weather Not really but it is pretty much a downer.

DH is studying to take a test to become a HAM radio operator so I have been left to my own devices today. I wound up dragging my coop kit into the dining room and putting it mostly together. I left it in two pieces so I could move them out to the hobby room and then out to the coop/run. It went together very easily and so far it looks to be pretty nice considering it is a kit. The wood is definitely cedar. I was putting it together and remembering the review somebody wrote about it saying. They claim it's solid wood but I smell cedar! That isn't solid wood. I'm boxing it up and sending it back. Sometimes I just shake my head in wonder. In spite of it being solid cedar I'm thinking about putting a coat of Thompson's water seal on the outside. Other than that, I replaced the nesting box divider with a better piece of plywood and it's good to go. I can't believe anyone would try to house 6 chickens in it but it will be big enough to hold two broodies and chicks, or use as a grow out pen.

Frankly, if I was a chicken and forced to live in one during the current winter, I'd stage a revolt....big time.

That is so sad about the horses. Don't even want to think about it.

that is tv + internet phones from boost 40 mine I pay it the boys are 50 each unlimited but for data that is 5 gig per.. the son James was paying well over 130 a month for verizon with 3 gig limited talk no text

Our day topped out at 59F (ta dah!) and just now 9:52 pm Thurs is 24.6F .
It was rainy and foggy most of day so not user friendly

Dh is my hero tonight. I have a bunch of medical tests in the morning, so I ordered a late supper from Cracker Barrel. He went to get it for me. When he started to turn into our drive, he saw a coyote coming out of our yard, and it was headed out our drive. When he turned in, the coyote turned around, and headed back to our place, and ran into the back yard towards the coop. Dh jumped out of the car, set the food down, grabbed the rifle, and a flashlight, then headed towards the coop. I was shocked, because he's usually squeamish about killing animals. It was gone when he got out there, but he was willing to protect my chickens, so for tonight, he's my hero.
