The Old Folks Home

What is the difference between Ham operators and CB folks? I thought the terms were interchangeable. Our first neighbor had a CB radio and it kept interfering with our TV.
My father had a fit about. I guess there is some filter they can use but, neighbor didn't want to.

Don't recall how that ended but turned out my father & neighbor had the same first name, born on the same day (different years). Guess they were meant to meet.

I quit garbage pick up yrs ago. Forget to take it down the drive, still get charged. Next time they charge double for a excessive amount of garbage....
Our county dump is free. Only five minutes from where I work so I leave at least fifteen minutes early, five to get there five to get rid of it and five back, so no biggie. Only prob is sometimes I put it off, not a big deal in winter but in warm/hot weather :sick don't have a truck now but four 55gal plastic barrels fit in the back of our suburban and our caravan. The barrels somewhat contain the nastiness and definitely easier with the recyclables cause they require you to remove the plastic bag and dump it in a roll off container, so easy to dump the contents of a barrel in and no dealing with opening bags to dump.

I do not like the whole deal though even though ours is state of the art with composting organic material and partnered with the power company for making electricity, they recycle, etc... Ours is right next to a famous trout and fishing river, bs. Supposedly it's sealed with liners and clay but just disgusts me. The amount of garbage this country piles up every yr is not good. Everything should be recyclable, reusable, or compostable.

Was really thinking about it this Christmas kids opening presents, almost everything made in China, we send China our recyclable garbage (and they are threatening to shut us off or already have cause of sending them crap, (our dump doesn't, everything sorted without fancy computer machines) many are sending unusable garbage in the recyclables)
Just some much waste in packaging, cardboard, zipties, screws, strings and ropes, tons of plastic, shouldn't take that much garbage to have a toy or doll.

Beer Can, our dumps used to be free. Then the county took over garbage collection, and it's included in the property taxes. Then the county changed the dumps to free with proof of paid property taxes. Then they limited the amount of garbage, only so many pounds a year, with proof of paid property taxes. Sheesh!

I hear them still sometimes, more populated areas. Sounds like old timers on base stations. Don't hear anyone on anywhere otherwise. Truck drivers just use their smart phones and listen to SiriusXM radio.

I remember driving and listening to the truckers on the CB...mostly so that you knew where the cops were hiding.

Not doing that here yet, your supposed to stop and talk to them at the gate but they always just wave me by. If it's a fill-in they just ask 'household?' yup, and let you through. They do charge by the pound for construction debris if it's a lot. I took a small car trailer there when we were remodeling the house, cost a couple hundred but I didn't want to bury the crap on our land even though I have a backhoe, was worth it to me.
I was surprised they take car tires for free. I think I mentioned it here before, worst thing I did was get a tire changer to save ourselves $$, people come out of the woodwork to have me change tires. I started requiring them to take their old tires with them if they were no good cause they were piling up. Then FIL told me the dump takes them for free !!!???
So I asked them there, really, for free?!! Yup, county would rather take them then have tires tossed all over here and there on roads and state forest land. Makes sense. It's a third party that takes them so they have to have room, put them in a couple box trailers. Not sure what they do with them.
