The Old Folks Home

I remember driving and listening to the truckers on the CB...mostly so that you knew where the cops were hiding.
Yup! Lol! Did that also, truckers always broadcasted where they were on the highway.
Early '90s listening to truckers on our way to a small city, four of us in a falling apart little dodge colt, buddy started messing with them, he knew all the 'Jerky boys' comedy act prank phone calls by heart. Was hilarious!! Didn't take long all the sudden, big rig in front, behind, to the side, and they told us if we did not get off their channel we were done... ever see a dodge colt?...we shut up right quick....
Don't know how they triangulated us, have heard something about the strength of the signal, maybe we were the only car on the highway with a cb antenna full of young punks? IDK? When those big trucks/trailers squeezed in close and asked us to shut up we did, pretty scary then, funny now.

What is the difference between Ham operators and CB folks? I thought the terms were interchangeable. Our first neighbor had a CB radio and it kept interfering with our TV.
My father had a fit about. I guess there is some filter they can use but, neighbor didn't want to.

Don't recall how that ended but turned out my father & neighbor had the same first name, born on the same day (different years). Guess they were meant to meet.
Cb is local, no license needed. Ham radios long distance, even to other countries. Lots of knowledge needed, as well as a license.

No pick up of garbage here. You have to take it to drop off places where they have dumpsters. It is free but no recycling. You have to truck it to the city if you want that.
I hate when people burn plastic! More nasty chemicals in the air. I agree, too much packaging on most stuff, more plastic....

Yrs ago I had a military shortwave radio, loved listening to that thing, people all around the world.
Now it's just online, people around the world still but not the same.
My neighbor across the rd has a ham licence and funky antennae in his yard. Also has his own weather station thats way better than any around.

Tell me about it. The technical stuff is....well, technical and the math is all metric which I know some of it from nursing but not the metric that they are trying to pour into my poor old brain. Gigahertz, Megahertz, Picohertz Mybrainhertz. Turn Gigahertz into Megahertz. Why? I ask. Can't you just turn it on and talk? No, read the next chapter....twice then answer the test questions.....miss them, reread the chapter again. Do the test questions again. Oh JOY! I got two right. Close enough, on to the next chapter.

I do not envy my husband tomorrow when he takes the tests. I know he will do well though.

Cap, sorry to hear that you lost a bird. Was this one of the Marek's girls? Mine are doing surprisingly well right now. I am basking in it, literally because God only knows how long it will last. The bachelor bantams are being real donkey butts to the big roosters so I have to figure out how to get the biggers away from the littlers. Who would of thought that a 2 pound feather duster can take on a 6 pound rooster and win?

Well guys I'm off to bed. Got to get up and read the next chapter four or five times and then review today's work.

I thought they were dying from Mereks but she was totally loaded in mites! I was shocked when i checked her over. Should have done it sooner. Now i need to treat all of them. That is half my SS flock dead since they hatched Mid August. :hit

Cap so sorry for your nightmare but, mites are better to deal with than Mareks. :hugsHope there is a big upward change in your flock.
Oh i think they have both. Probably why i have lost so many.
