For the record, the rats are getting in the coop, not my home. I was sort of expecting things like that when we moved here. I know it can take some time to get them under control. Most of my neighbors have horses, not chickens, so it's not quite the same with the feed situation. I've had spurts with the rats out there. Ron, you've offered a lot of encouragement when you said it took you about 2 years to get them under control. I'm still getting my "coop ecology" in order.

Traps, zappers, liquid bate and just on bite.

Here they were in the Garage and outside. They lived in tunnels under the fence. When they finally died off in Mass after the just one bite, It was amazing!

My coop is an old renovated shed that one wall had slipped off the foundation. DH managed to push it back with his tractor but there is a gap where enterprising vermin do their best to invade my space. I need to find where they are getting in and seal it with wire if nothing else.

Usually I'm finding one at a time. Not very big, probably a juvenile out looking for territory. We have huge field mice here and I've managed to catch a few in snaptraps but the one bite, judiciously placed does the best job. Of course it means that i have to be diligent looking for dead rodents that the chickens may eat but you have to stay one step ahead of the rats. I know it took several years just to get the mouse problem under control in the house.

The scrapes were white paint on oak. It was very noticeable and a crack on one side where they hit it. I did not want a discount. I want a new one. I may have to look some where else if they don't have another one.

They don't seem to sell One Bite out here - the Menard's and Home Depot don't carry it. Maybe because of residential area.

chicka, so sorry you had that problem. It's so frustrating when you're excited, expecting new stuff, and something comes damaged, not to mention how it delays everything. I hope they can deliver one that is not damaged, so everything matches. If not, you may have to have them take back all the cabinets, so you can get them all to match.

Do you have a farmers association anywhere near you, Drumstick? You might also try Jefferspet.com. I just looked on their site and they have One Bite.

Thanks Chicka. I can't say that I blame you. When we bought our last stove they dropped the carton loading it into our van. Sure enough, got it home, opened it up and the oven door handle was creased and bent. Called the company and they sent us a new one but still was a pain.

Marvin's delivery guys showed up with most of the stuff. But the sink base cabinet was damaged. So we sent it back. They did not have the other cabinet.
We only ordered the cabinets for one side of the kitchen for now. As we do not have room for all of them at one time. We will go back tomorrow to see if they even have another one in stock.
The one they did bring was all banged up. I told them I'm not paying full price for scratch and dent sale cabinets.

You have to wonder who's brain is engaged when they put stuff like that in the truck. Figure some people will just take it and not complain?
