The Old Folks Home

It always cracks me up that the govt requires a piece of paper as documentation that you were born when it's quite obvious that you were, as you're standing there breathing air... and the piece of paper in no way can possibly "prove" you are whomever it states you are... ANYONE could be carrying that piece of paper and claim they are that person. Same with a social security card. The whole thing is nothing but govt bullsh*t and control.

I don't have the new one here yet, DW does, not a enhanced just new style. Mines good till '21.
I don't care much for the one I have, previous one I didn't have thinning hair and wrinkles. Wonder what the next one will look like?
Wish they'd just let you keep your original pic....
I actually still have my original pic, I assume they might make me go in for a new one next time. I didn't get my license until I was 18, so it expired at 28 (I think), it was in color and was the vertical one for minors, I renewed online, and much to my surprise, it actually let me, they just turned my old pic grey scale and mailed me my new license! So, my license is 18 year old me... lol

DH went to get his passport renewed 11 years ago. Sent everything in that he needed to sent in and about 4 weeks later got his old passport back along with a letter stating that they didn't like the quality of his photo (a professionally done photo)and they were rejecting his application
That's why it's best to have the post office take the passport photo. They charge for the service, but they are responsible for the photo being of good enough quality to be used.

Don't get pulled over, the cop will think you stole the license!

Not all POs (in fact I don't know the percentage) can take passport photos, call first if you aren't sure. I THINK maybe only the big PO in Burlington can do it. Certainly no ability in the smaller towns. You can get them at places like AAA

Any even passable forger could create those "documents," seals and all - I agree, having the forms in hand only proves that someone has those forms in hand, not that they are who they say they are.

Morning all and Happy Spring!

Yep, that is where DH and I had our pictures taken. At the Post Office. It's just as stated. Somebody new was working and being super critical. My picture for my original passport turned out with my cheeks being really red like I had blobs of rouge smeared on them. No problem. They accepted it.

I think it's borderline criminal that there are states that will give ID/drivers licenses to illegal entry individuals but make naturally born citizens jump through hoops.

One day back in IL I was looking up information on line for an patient who had IDPA to verify coverage. I stumbled onto a site that was state sponsored that explained what it took to get medicaid coverage if you were an illegal entry alien. Virtually nothing. You didn't need an ID didn't need a SS number, no worries you were eligible for approximately 5,000 dollars a month including medical care for a family with 5 children. Link, the state's food assistance program wasn't included in that total. I kept the window open and went to another window to find what I was looking for and when DH was done with the patient I showed him the site. He was astounded. I mean, no wonder IL is in debt up to its armpits. We copied off a few pages of the information and when we retired and moved something happened to them. We went back to find the site and it was gone. Imagine that!

So having to supply a state with 6 forms of ID is just over the top. I can see two. I think we need that just to change our licenses to MO from IL, our old license and proof of residency. But anything else is over the top.
