The Old Folks Home

A couple days ago, our neighbor brought his tractor and took off the layer of grass, for us to put our garden in. I told Dh to go rent a tiller, and till it. Nope, he got out there with a shovel, and turned all the dirt. The chickens got all the grubs he found.

Awana didn't give a month's notice about the pinewood car derby this year. They announced it a couple weeks ago. Dd #1 waited to tell anyone, until she bought the kit to make the car. That didn't leave any time for Dh to get it done, so he ordered one online. $79.00. That was for it being professionally shaped into the car of choice (using woodworking stuff), weighted, slots for the axles, and wheels. Dh has been painting it. It will look a bit plain this year, but they did an excellent job on making the car.

After the race this year, I told Dd # 1 to get the car, and bring it back before it got messed up. We can sand the paint down, repaint, and do new detailing for next year.

I hope she wins!

Dog is okay stools are not yet fully formed but not completely liquid .

But in scg luck I've been up the last 90 minutes or so with diarrhea and puking .
I hope you are better today.

On another note, to get from our living room, out to the screened in patio, there is a set of sliders. Not the standard 2 slider type, but with 3 sliders. It's very wide. There is a Bali traverse vertical blind rod, that opens in the center. Like a traverse rod for curtains, but it's for vertical blinds. It's the most used "curtain" in the house, and lately has gotten to where it doesn't want to work most of the time. I have to wrestle with it. Dh measured everything, and I think we're going to order a new one, but different. I want one that the cord is on the left, and it draws to the right. That's more conducive to the way we use the slider.

Thank you Cap. It's for our 7 yo grandson. They gave a month's notice last year, so we had time to build cars for both grandkids. They're not doing the pinewood cars for the younger (3-4 yo) kids this year. They're doing Hot Wheel/Matchbox cars for them instead, so my granddaughter is all set.

Sorry SCG... Hope you're better soon. Hope you fared OK with the storms Chicka... Looked like AL got hammered pretty good. It's a pretty impressive storm system from Canada all the way down through GA now and out into the gulf.

Thanks Ls. We got wind and rain here. A few small branches down that's it and the yard is flooded. At least Dh got most of the grass cut before it hit.

Yup. Like I said, normally we do all of it ourselves from scratch. It's a fantastic family type project. From shopping for all the stuff, which it gets really fun shopping for all the detailing, to getting it cut out, painted, detailed, and lastly the wheels put on. I don't know why they didn't announce it this year until the last minute, but it sure messed things up.
