The Old Folks Home

yeah... wasn't clear why it was dead... the mouth looked a little odd.. but maybe just because it had stuck in a funny position. .. couldn't have been dead long since it wasn't smelly... so I am hoping :fl that means a big chance that mom will be fine... no infection etc.

mom looks really good, birth was easy.

the 2 live ones have nursed enough that one side of her udder is already pretty low.

Al, I'm both glad, and sad that your sons are leaving. Heck, due to the many things you've posted about them, it's almost like I know them. I'll miss them right along with you. At least I don't have to worry about foreigners that don't speak English, driving white vans, lurking at airports, picking up young men.

I'm sure they'll keep you posted on everything, and you'll share with us. Right?

Hi and good morning all! We had our first 'real' thunderstorms overnight here. Really needed the rain so nobody is complaining. Doggo with Degenerative Myelopathy hates storms or loud noises though and took off shuffling around the house looking for a place to hide from the evil noise. He finally wound up in our hobby room under the large utility sink that we have set up there. The sink used to be a developing sink for film when DH was into photography. Other than discarding it, we put it to good use. It has a large shelf under it that I use to store boxes of fruit jars. Naturally when doggo decided that was the perfect hiding place from the evil storm fruit jars started toppling off the boxes where I had them stacked and shattering on the concrete floor. Nothing like cleaning up glass at 3 AM.

Hope the rest of the day doesn't follow the 3 AM trend.

Congratulations on the two new babies @Alaskan and on the two legged kids heading off to start their lives as young adults.

Hi JD! Long time no see. Glad to see you at the home..

@perchie.girl. Hope you are feeling better this morning.

I'm off to let the birds out and check the new babies and mamma.....and drink more coffee.:caf

I'd rather have snow, but not blizzard.

snow > deathly hot > blizzard

And all of the black flies appear to have hatched in the last 24 hours. It is miserable out there. Took Ripley to the tire place this morning, walked her around the neighborhood surrounding it. She is very much a country dog, she doesn't do good with other people, cars, cats, dogs, noises... She gets so distracted and wants to chase or love all of them. And she took an enormous dump an elephant would be proud of in front of someones house. Thankfully I had a bag.

But the tire is fixed, the dog is tired and I finally got the hose out of storage now that it's not below freezing at night. The duck pool is filled and I'm planning to not leave the house again until after dark if I can help it.
