Computers have come a long way! Now phones are more powerful then computers were back thenDiva, I'm old enough, I can't even remember back to kindergarten, but I know I didn't learn about computers then. I was an older teen - young adult when pocket sized calculators became popular. Within a few years the solar ones became the thing. I was grown when video games went from Atari to Nintendo.
I was 39 years old when I got my first computer as a Christmas gift from my dad in 1995. He used them on his job, and he talked to quite a few IT people. It was decided that Windows 95 was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, so he had one of them build a great computer for me. I had never even touched a keyboard prior to that. Software was seriously expensive, but he loaded me up pretty good. I had a Video Professor CD bundle. That's how I learned to use my computer.
My computer came with a CD burner. With Windows 98, I could get a bigger hard drive. I had a relative that had studied to become an IT tech. He came over, and showed me the inside of my computer, and how to add the drive. After the DVD wars, I was able to add a DVD burner myself. About 10 years ago, Dh and I built our first computers from scratch. Each payday, we ordered at least 1 part from our list. It took us about 6 months to get everything we needed. When we got the final part, we put them together. Him on his side of the living room, me on mine, cats running back and forth supervising. We've rebuilt plenty of them since then. I have an assortment of paint brushes, compressed air, and a dust buster I use when I clean inside my tower.
